Judge lifts stay on gay marriage!!!

West Hollywood, California (August 12, 2010) – Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker lifted the stay against same-sex marriages this morning, guaranteeing a second “Summer of Love” across California.

    • The judge is a conversative/libertarian republican voting nutjob. Don't believe this is a good step forward. These kind of decisions should be handled by Democratic Progressives.

      um no actualy it through this process that we insure that we arent fundamentalist on our policy either way, all perspectives get evaluation and input.the appeals process isnt just for shits and giggles.
      the great step forward is in the legal precision it is being done, as to insure this issues progression.this judge is stacking the deck in a manor that supports gay marraige as a civil liberty, while not cutting any corners making revesion rediculously difficult.
      had he not allowed gay rights oppostion time to rebutt, that would be the basis on wich his decision could be repealed.

    • I was going to be shocked if the judge did not lift it after it was ruled unconstitutional. Yes, the voters of Califorina voted for it (barely); however, this is NOT a democracy. It is a democratic republic.

      Which was documented in the ruling that was released. It is an amazing read. The proponents had NO evidence while their key expert was shot down by cross-examination. Hell, even the judge tripped up the counsel by asking how is making sure sex occurs only in opposite-sex marriages an issue the state should be concerned about.
