“It’s a community center. They’re going to have a gym. They’re going to have point guards. Muslim point guards,” Franken said, to laughter and applause.

“They (Republicans) do this every two years. They try to find a wedge issue, and they try to work it.”

    • I respect the concerns on those on both sides of the issue. Mocking them as a group is the wedge in action. Al is being a hypocrite in this matter.

I think that AF has wisdom and valid concerns, his past career as a comedian gives him more latitude from his constituents in mocking people, but this is precisely what the problem is with national (not to mention regional) politics ever since Nixon got what he deserved, and then some partisans apparently thought they needed retaliate, or respond in kind when the chance came.

    • Does anyone really care what Franken thinks (does he really think!)? If it weren't for 320 felons voting in violation of the state voting rules, the not so funny Al would not have won by 312.

You may find it easier to pass your brain through the eye of needle, than for a rich republican (or democrat) to pass through the gates of heaven. If you are not rich and vote republican, then you vote against your own financial interest. It is always really about the math. Nice going there bubba.

    • NIAT has a good point. People like to see actual inteligent conversation, not links and videos. The links and videos are fine if you have something to say about it yourself but if you don't have something to say about it yourself then why post? I usually never pay attention to a post that doesn't have an inteligent point to make.

    • Well i really wish people would post more than two sentences for a story... atleast post the whole article, I come to current to read from current not look for links. Anyway maybe the problem shouldn't be about why the would build a religious building that close to ground zero. When looking at issues you have to look at them unbiased, and just looking at it for what it is. Now the real problem would be why do we need buildings to practice religion, hell why do we even have religion..

Answer to first question.....People are lazy and/or want to take something out of context. Sorta like democrats, republicans and people in the South, North, Midwest, East and West. Sentence #2....Who cares why you are here, you probably fit into one of the categories in this response--refer to my sentence #1 above. Regarding bias. we all are bias and have opinions. Einstein had ideas, you have opinions. Next issue----religious building next to ground zero?.....1) sounds like a center, not a mosque...2) Muslims playing basketball?....we have won and Islam will fall because of conflicts with the NBA schedule... 3) Kinda like building a Ronald Regen or George W. Library I guess....Next issue, why have religious buildings or religion? Well, if we didn't have religion....1) We wouldn't need the religious buildings......We have religion because we are afraid of dying and we have small brains and we are children and we tend want to marry goats unless we have rules.....2) Why buildings? It is hard enough to listen to some of the Sunday BS without having to stand out in the rain or cold. 3) If you live in a shit house, why would you want to go somewhere that resembles an outdoor shit house? (With acknowledgment to Lenny Bruce on that last one)

haha quite the response, of course we can be bias, doesn't mean we have to be. I don't belong in any category. Well, the building is going to be a "center" for Muslims? The word Muslim has religious meaning, it is like catholic. So a center were people of the same faith meet. Sounds like it is a church with a basketball court and a swimming pool.. Thanks for the reply =]

    • They planned for years, practiced the operation, and executed it on 9-11. In the course of a few hours killed almost three thousand Americans in the name of Islam. And Al Franken can only mock the dead, their families and the grief and outrage of most of us.
And that shrine to Islam in the heart of the wound will fester it.

Muslim cleric 'backs execution of gays'

A ROW has blown up over a claim a prominent Manchester Muslim has defended the execution of sexually-active gay people as "justified".

Arshad Misbahi, a junior Imam at the city's Central Mosque is alleged to have confirmed that it is an acceptable punishment in Iraq and Iran.

His comments are said to have been made to psychotherapist Dr John Casson who is researching the persecution of gays in Islamic states. But they have been condemned as "encouraging conflict between the area's large gay and Muslim communities.

      Witnesses

Dr Casson said: "He told me that in a true Islamic state, such punishments were part of Islam if the person had had a trial, at which four witnesses testified that they had seen the actual homosexual acts."

He went on: "I asked him what would be the British Muslim view and he repeated that in an Islamic state these punishments were justified.

"They might result in the deaths of thousands, but if this deterred millions from having sex and spreading disease, then it was worthwhile to protect the wider community."

It is understood Imam Misbahi believes his comments were taken out of context and misrepresented. He says will be issuing a
