Press freedom group Reporters Without Borders, which earlier criticised Wikileaks' decision to publish numerous secret US Military documents online, reaffirmed its support for the website on Wednesday.
Last week, the group had accused the founder of the whistle-blowing site of being irresponsible in its publication of the Afghanistan war logs, saying it would put several lives in danger.
Following hate messages and accusations over the charity's stance towards Wikileaks, Reporters Without Borders has now clarified that the criticisms do not mean that the group is for censorship of the website.
The group said that they reaffirm their support for Wikileaks, its work and its founding principles, and cautioned against attempts to "put words in its mouth".
It warned once again that Wikileaks' publication of the secret documents would result in a "real threat to the website of closure in the United States and targeted persecution of its contributors".
