One in four lap dancers has a degree, study finds

The article starts by saying the academic study into lap dancing is the first to be carried out and reveals information into the lives and reasons into the industry.

The researchers didn't find any trafficking into the industry and discovered economic and career choices were more common than drug or coercion. It says unemployed graduates tend to go into the lap dancing industry because it pays more than bar work.

The study criticised the safety for dancers saying welfare was "often disregarded" and more regulation was needed to ensure this. One interview with a dancer said she knew girls who were raped and abused at work.

    • I think lap dancers are great. My mum and her friend took me to Stringfellows,cabaret of angels for my 18th. It was fab and the ladies were really friendly, they stroked my ego by saying I could be an angel if I wanted. I think more women should attend lap dancing clubs with partners or friends.

They want safe working conditions and money to support themselves and their kids . Perhaps you don't need to work and cannot relate . Many men work in jobs that require upper body strength , Some people work in entertainment , where it pays to be good looking . Some people are athletes , who also have physical characteristics that give an advantage . Yet YOU pick these females to look down on . They deserve to be mistreated ? Why just them ? How dare they try to make a living THIS way , huh ? Maybe you resent women , because they do not give you the attention you feel you deserve . Perhaps it is your personality .
