Concerned about terrorism, Real Americans torch The site of a Future Mosque was burned down in Tennessee

Federal officials are investigating a fire that started overnight at the site of a new Islamic center in a Nashville suburb.

Ben Goodwin of the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department confirmed to CBS Affiliate WTVF that the fire, which burned construction equipment at the future site of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, is being ruled as arson.

Special Agent Andy Anderson of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told CBS News that the fire destroyed one piece of construction equipment and damaged three others. Gas was poured over the equipment to start the fire, Anderson said.

The ATF, FBI and Rutherford County Sheriff's Office are conducting a joint investigation into the fire, Anderson said.

WTVF reports firefighters were alerted by a passerby who saw flames at the site. One large earth hauler was set on fire before the suspect or suspects left the scene.

The chair of the center's planning committee, Essim Fathy, said he drove to the site at around 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning after he was contacted by the sheriff's department.

"Our people and community are so worried of what else can happen," said Fathy. "They are so scared."

    • The Muslim religion, in the U.S. is the new bridge builder, and that is what Xtianists hate about it. The Xtianists have failed, miserably, to unite people with their religion, and have achieved the opposite. They've used their religion as a tool to facilitate sexism, and bigotry. Now, the angry xtianist sects seek to destroy Islam because it's a threat to xtianity's power and control.

Intolerant xtianity deserves financial devastation, and destroyed careers.

    • Sounds like a Lib...False Flag Operation.....they don't know who did it or why, but you ignorant fools, of course blame the conservatives and the news. Maybe the damn contractor was not paying his employee's or fired an equipment operator and he did it. Blind sheep is what you are waiting for that shot in the back of the head before slaughter..
Your Ruler Obama is playing the propaganda card so I don't dout a liberal freak did it for a spot on the news. What next, is he going to pay for this one as well as the Mosques in other countries?

According to The Associated Press, the Obama administration plans to spend nearly $6 million in American tax dollars to restore 63 historic and cultural sites around the world, including mosques and minarets in 55 countries. The projects include $76,000 for a 16th century mosque in communist China, $67,000 for a mosque in Pakistan, and numerous others.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton calls using U.S. taxpayer dollars to restore Islamic and other cultural sites money well spent.

    • It goes to prove that some Americans are so angry about the Islamification of America that they'll even commit arson rather then having a Mosque forced upon them by those that have no respect for our values, and while this incident is unfortunate I am surprised this hasn't happened before now! It is about Us Vs them however and it is equally unfortunate that Islam doesn't understand that Islam's anti-western words and deeds scare American's because those of us with a brain see exactly what the end result will be if Islam continues to make inroads into our society! Better to BURN the Qu'ran then a building, and if construction workers refuse to work on these Mosques instead they won't get built in the first place!

Unfortunately for guys like you there is a thing called the Constitution that is quite clear about freedom of worship and it states without any need for clarification about it. No more complicated or less simple than that...these people are arsonists, and that IS a criminal act, the building of a Mosque is not.

    • We've made this about Us vs Them - which is the same mentality that led to the tragedy at the World Trade Center many years ago.

They had the exact same mentality then that we do now - they felt that their values and way of life were being assaulted just as we feel ours are now. They made is a matter of Us vs Them out of desperation and they did what they felt they must.

It was wrong. Innocent people died, and for what? Did it accomplish what they wanted?
But now, we have devolved to the same. Us vs them. Now our violence is escalating even on our own soil against our own citizens. And for what? So that we can terrorize their brethren now, too? Sure, some of them may have believed in what the terrorists believe. But you're terrorists now, too. Just like them. And I don't believe in what you believe, so it only stands to reason that some of them disagreed with the terrorists, as well.

A small number that represents both our demographics have lashed out at the "them," causing horrible repercussions to innocent by standers who just wanted to be one their way and worship or not worship as they willed.

There have been the small percentage of Muslims who have given the entire religion a bad name and a small percentage of Christians who have given their entire religion a bad name. And we keep hitting at each other back and forth, each time digging -ourselves- into a deeper and deeper ditch. Breeding resentment, anger and fear. Fear is what they feel when they attack us, and it's what we feel when we attack them - and with each attack, the feeling only grows, causing their next charge at us to be even worse than the last, and ours at them more violent than the one before. Like a gang war, it cannot be resolved by holding onto our hatred - only more can be hurt - until we destroy each other and ourselves.

Only on the brink - in our dying moments, and theirs, will we look at one another and realize that we are made of the same stuff. Us and them - we're all human. We should be brothers and sisters - not us and them.

    • I used to think all of that talk of hate/fear leading you ultimately to becoming what you despise as overinflated and clichéd movie plots.

Though now I see that no matter how trite these story devices are, they are cliché for a reason. These people are literally a walking, talking, breathing, clichés. Literally the embodiment of what a stereotype truly is; a human-less description of a person. If anyone truly believe this title to be accurate or agree with the actions taken by these individuals; then you have fallen as low as you possibly can...

      You are your own enemy.

    • O.K. I'm going to give the person that posted this story the benefit of the doubt on this one and say they are not expressing their personal beliefs, but the beliefs of others in an attempt to illustrate a point. If they are not then obviously not everything stated here will continue to apply.

So the headline for this article originally reads
"Fire at Tenn. Mosque Building Site Ruled Arson"

However ATOMICLEGION has decided to run the story under this headline
"Concerned about terrorism, Real Americans torch The site of a Future Mosque was burned down in Tennessee"

While I presume the point you are trying to make with the title change is to illustrate the ideology of domestic terrorist, I ideologically disagree with it. You have taken, what amounts contextually to, fact based reporting and distorted the context with personal interpretations of a hateful distortion to a violent event. You are misrepresenting the author, distorting the spirit and letter of their words by changing the title, and politicizing what is clearly a legal/law enforcement issue. Your agenda would be better served as an opinion piece with this incident as it's basis; but as it stands now I can't agree what you have done to the story.

I understand that you are trying to portray how a certain view of how a real american is defined becomes skewed and completely offensive. That ultimately the day we decide terrorist acts such as this, are what constitutes the definition of an American, isn't so much the day that terrorists win; it is the day we become that which we fear/hate "Terrorists".

These people are being driven by emotions that were ignited by 9/11 and so forth and are not thinking straight I guess. Conservatives are always the ones standing up for the constitution and yet decide to fight freedom of religion.

    • Maybe we should just roll over for the Muslims so we can be just like Saudi Arabia. Or Iraq. Or Indonesia. Where terrorism is the status quo. Where blowing something up, is the way to get the Government to bow to your wishes. Where, your brother or sister becoming a martyr, is a way for the family to get some money (google it, there is a, how do I put it, a cash reward, to the surviving family, for becoming a martyr). You can dress Islam up however you want, but all you have to do it research those countries where Islam is the dominant religion, or even the only religion, and see if that is what you want this country to become.

Is it? Or am I ignorant of some different facts?

      Pity the poor, poor, Muslims.

It's a religion of over a billion people stretching all over Africa and Asia, yeah, you're ignorant of the facts. In fact, mathematically, you're off by a factor of several thousand.

More specifically, you're wilfully ignoring the WARS that goes on in those countries so you can pretend like it's ok to be a xenophobic prick.

And I'm sure in their shoes, if you could get some money for your family in a world that can't even afford shoes or running water, you'd be more than willing to die so one of your kids could go to school.

If you need hate to exist, fine. But don't come on here and pretend like it's justified by the facts.

Because unless you know, for a fact, that over one billion people are terrorists, you're just a scared fool who doesn't hide the ape emotions very well.

So, you are saying to prevent Islamic terrorism, we should practice acts of terrorism against Muslims.

Gee, you are a BRIGHT one.

BTW- take a look at nations where Christianity has control over the Government, like in Africa. They are hell-holes of violence.

When Christianity ruled Europe, we called it the Dark Ages for a reason.

All the good countries have secular governments.

Saladin, Utopia, I, in fact, don't give a shit what goes on in those countries. Xenophobic prick? Yeah, probably so. And, in my mind, and it isn't hate, it's caution, and probably fear also, I don't want it in my neighborhood. If you want it in yours, feel free. But I won't accept the "Religion of Peace", as they put it. They can keep it elsewhere. And nowhere did I say that I condone the burning of the Mosque site, but I can see why they would do it. Personally, I think local authorities should just not allow it.

You talk about the nations where Christianity is the rule? Well, they're fucked also. You won't find a post by me defending Christianity, Judaism, or any other religion, in my mind, they have been the cause of very nearly every war in history, I think we would be better off without any of them, but that isn't going to happen, too many cults, too many brainwashed people.

You can be as politically correct as you want. I won't be. The Muslims are on a course of attempted world domination. It's obvious to me. And they will probably get it, since everyone in the world, except the Chinese, are rolling over for them. Too bad.

Unless you're claiming that all 1.57 billion Muslims in the world are uncivilized animals in general or terrorists specifically, perhaps your rather provocative wording here isn't accurately describing your point of view.

Of course, if you ARE making such a claim, one wonders with what justification?

Just as with Christianity, Islam and Muslims in general aren't the specific problem but rather radicals within those philosophies/religions.

Although, yes, there are inherently bad ideas in both of these that give incentive to these radicals, we'll not get into a debate on that topic for the time being. Suffice to say, many individuals are good people IN SPITE OF their professed philosophy or religion ... and rarely because of it.

Some (many) human beings are monsters because it is their nature to be regardless of their professed beliefs.

    • There is no part of America that is more or less "American" than any other part. Anyone who tries to teach you that your interpretation of something is less "American" is lying to you.

There are a few things about this story I would like to point out.

      1. Regardless of anyone's interpretation of what being "American" is, not all Muslims are terrorists. Many aren't even angry at America (though now they have some reasons to be). If islam is practiced in the ways outlined by the holy Qu'ran, it is one of the safest and passive religions out there, especially if you compare it with the occasionally violent dogmas of Christ and his followers. Fearing muslims for terrorism is exactly as logical as fearing all christians for Child Molestation. Both religions are completely against their perspective wrongdoings, and only the truly insane members of the religions are the ones who commit such heinous acts.

      2. There is nothing American about preventing people from practicing their religious beliefs, and Islam is a religious belief. In fact, freedom of religion is clearly outlined in the Bill of rights, which I hear is a rather "American" Document.

      3. There is nothing in the Bill of rights, or any other document passed by any part of the American legal system, that allows citizens of the United States to pick and chose which amendments to follow and which amendments to ignore based on their own personal beliefs.

      4. If we follow the principals established by the two previous facts, we are being true to our original American ideals. If we don't, like the people in this article, we are not.

      5. Therefore, it is safe to say that people like the ones in this article are justifying their actions with their own ignorance of the American system. Which is a bad way to do business if ever there was one.

In addition to this poster's obvious dedication to ignorance about all things American, I would also like to point out the appalling lack of grammatical tolerance in this headline. I hope that the people who read this take it to heart, but if they don't they should feel free to be angry at me for my logical interpretations of America and Islam. After all, this is the internet.

Regardless of how misguided your views on any religion are, it is our duty as Americans to protect all religions equally. I do not agree with many of the main tenants of Islam, and as a Jew and American myself there have been many things that some of their members have done to make me very angry.

That said, murder is explicitly outlined as an abomination by the Islamic doctrines practiced by most Muslims around the world, especially the ones who get together to pray peacefully in America.

It's bad enough that foreign policy in the past 10 years has been shaped by Islamophobia. But to have our very own domestic policy threatened by it in a flagrant violation of the constitution by the people who claim to defending it is the most Un-American thing to ever happen in this country.

      Madison was an atheist.
      Jefferson was a Deist.
Franklin once said "As to Jesus, I have doubts on his divinity."

This country was founded so that people could believe whatever silly lies they wanted to regardless of wether or not other people thought that their beliefs were silly lies.

I have been following the left for about 10 years now, and before Islam you guys never stood up for religion once. Not once. So why the change of heart?

Answer: Liberalism is in the business of destroying the fundemental values of america. Which goes hand in hand with the objectives of those loveable guys we like to refer to as terrorist. (I call them Hajis, but to each his own right) So basically to insure the destruction of the america yo uguys are so ashamed of you're actually willing to put aside your hate for religion as long as these nutcases help you out.

If you think, speak and live like an animal - particularly if it is by choice - you have no warrant to complain about the thinking, speaking and living of anyone else. Anything goes in the jungle - NOT in civilization. These arsonists forfeit their freedoms until such time they grow up and accept the values of human civilization.

Of course, they could forfeit all of the benefits of such and go live in the jungle where they apparently feel at home.

Yes, it's high time more people use the phrase "radical Americans" to refer to such persons. They certainly feel free to call everyone else "radical" who doesn't agree with their point of view.

I'm one of them but, I think I'd be the very last in line to destroy anyone else's property - or harm anyone else for that matter.

    • Everyone needs to wait until the investigation is complete instead of jumping to conclusions. There have been too many cases where one group gets blamed, then the truth comes out. Trying to make an association with this and the tea parties is a bit premature, kind of like the muslim cab driver in New York last week, that ended up being someone who worked for a group that supports the ground zero mosque.

    • You can't fix stupid. Now, for some of that old time Dixie music the darkies used to play. Or maybe a little something that will wisk us back to those good old days of Jew baiting in 1930's Germany. Banjo's and accordions. Or that tune from Cabaret, "The future belongs to me." Ah wonderfool, wonderfool.

    • mosques have been burned and vandalized in many different states all over the US. i was only using this incident as an example as to how and why it happens in the first place. burning the equipment to prevent a mosque from being built demonstrates the same level of ignorance it takes to setting the structure itself on fire. and the title to this article was put there by the poster. so if you rely on getting your news from current and expect it to be completely accurate and unbiased, you deserve to be decieved.

I get your point, certainly, and agree for the most part except for that last bit - no one deserves to be deceived.

That's predatory behavior against other human beings which is expressly forbidden in anything pretending to "civilization". Someone else's ignorance or stupidity isn't reasonable civil warrant to take advantage of them. These are irrational human beings we're talking about here and, frankly, their paranoia makes them feel threatened enough as it is.

    • A society that becomes religiously intolerant, has only itself to blame! Staying silent during such periods of history makes an individual as guilty as the perpetrators of this crime. Injustice anywhere, is a threat to justice everywhere.
This kind of hatred of Muslims has been and is being fomented by talking heads and Republican think tanks. They know how ignorant people can be, and how easily they can be manipulated.

Want to see something really scary? Watch, "Plunder: the Crime of Our Times." All this hate stuff is how the real rulers divide and conquer the fearful masses. Used to work with werewolves and more lately Communists, whatever they were. Oh, yeah, they are our Chinese brothers in business.

Yes indeed, divide and conquer has always worked for the elite! Regular people are spoon fed all kinds of distorted facts and talking points everyday. It takes work for an informed voter too sort out the crap from reality. These days we all should be able to see what has been going on for decades. Unfortunately a fast food nation of robots want's their change served up in a short number of months, not considering the decades it took to destroy the American dream.

Well thanks, it is amazing as you can see on this website even, the sleazy mis-informers in my opinion are either paid to discredit valid sources or are just plain ignorant. A society will be judged by how it takes care of it's weakest people, and the Commons is in disarray
from a joint effort of the elites in shifting the tax burden onto the lower classes. What will happen if the Republicans were aloud to take control of congress? It's pretty easy to see more tax cuts for the upper 3% of the population and their prime target the subpoenaing of the Obama administration. Even though there was plenty of evidence to throw dozens of war criminals and political hacks into jail, the Obama administration and the Democratically controlled congress choose to take a different approach. Although many of us are pretty pissed off about letting the injustices of the last administration slide, they tried in so many ways to turn this country around. I think if the Republicans had any morals left in them they would have at least let what the people wanted and voted overwhelmingly for to change. But that right wing sound machine just keeps spouting it's hatred, ignoring what the clear majority of this country's voters wanted. Disillusion and apathy are what they want, because a lower voter turnout always favors the GOP. That's exactly why we can not stand back and let them hijack our government again. The last vestige of a scoundrel is to wrap himself in the flag!
