The constant taking off and landing of over a half-million birds directly over our heads as we sat in the zodiac was a memorable experience. The calling noises of the gulls and the "purring" of the seabirds was loud and constant - a kind of buzz like the vuvuzelas during the recent World Cup in South Africa.
