The lab mix, with no name, was picked up by animal control along side a freeway on Saturday, the 21st. Since that time, he has been in the back of the shelter, with staff tending to his painful wounds.
Sadly, this beautiful dog, having survived the horror of being dragged, is now scheduled to be euthanized - tomorrow.
According to the woman that discovered him in the back of the shelter, there will be no extensions to save him. Rescues did not know that he existed as he was "in the back", and now he is nearly out of time.
Time is of the essence for this beautiful, young dog. He is estimated to be just one year of age. Technically, still a puppy. Right now, he desperately needs a safe, loving home to recuperate in.
Injured, black lab mix with no name has only an impound number to identify him - A417-6612.
If you, or anyone that you know is able to foster or adopt this dog, please contact Sasha Abelson at sasha@sgadvisors.org.
If you are not able to adopt of foster, please take a moment out of your day and post his story to your Facebook profile, Tweet and/or email to friends and family.
Sasha has established a Chip-In for this dog's medical care. If you are interested in contributing to his care, please click here: http://leonardossurgery.chipin.com/dragged-dog.
According to the shelter staff, the injured dog is "a trooper", but is a bit grumpy, most likely due to the extreme pain of having the pads and toenails ripped from his paws.
Injured, black lab mix #A4176612 needs a chance for happiness, compassion and kindness. Please do your part to help make that happen.

If the worlds bucket of dingos would stop buying dogs from the mall there would be less stories like this.

It's up to caring human beings to raise a fuss and demand that these barbaric puppy mills close up shop. It CAN be done.

In the "greater" Los Angeles areas, slowly but surely, these damn stores ARE being banned, I am proud to say. It starts with protests (the nice kind), and keeping up with the protests, and leafletting, and then calling the news networks to cover these protests.

OMG... and you saved her from a puppy mill?!!??!??!?!?!? Outstanding, just really, really outstanding.
I hope that your community is now trying to put that damn puppy mill out of business, once and for all.

Hate to say it but thousands of dogs every year are euthanized, why is this one any different? Because he was tortured? So his story deserve more attention? Because we'll be wronging him twice as human beings, whereas every other dog we'll be wronging once but killing them healthy?

What I DO hope for, from individual articles such as this one, is that humans will react, will decide to get involved. There's little more wonderful than someone finally digging in and actually HELPING.
And, by the way, there are millions of cats and kittens who are killed at our pounds every year, as well.

The domesticated animals rescue groups are overwhelmed with abandoned and injured cats, dogs, kittens, puppies bunnies, lizards and more.
It's up to people like YOU to get involved. We're all already at our limits, physically, emotionally, financially.
These rescue groups, by the way, are nonprofits, which means they're totally dependent upon donations, funding via grants, and volunteers. Step in and help out, won't you please?

Poor little puppy, hope they find it a home, I'm already stocked up on dogs. I saved one a while back and had to give him away later. I hope someone can find this dog, at least a temporary home.... save it's life for goodness sakes. It just kills me that the government can kill these dogs at whim with my tax dollars! This is immoral in my book, but after all, I am a vegetarian....

I've posted this on Facebook and Twitter, and will now forward it to all the animal rights/rescue groups from which I get notifications such as this potentially tragic one.

I wouldn't say that puppies are more noble. One becomes noble because of the choices he or she makes rather than by ones nature. What we perceive as noble behavior from puppies is really behavioral conditioning for existing in a pack that has evolved over millions of years and, within a relatively short period of time, been bred by humans.

im saying if we are judged by our deeds, despite dogs lacking as grand a level of conciousness, they function in action more nobely than we do.
but its really personafication more than a truism, just how i see it.my dog doesnt lie cheat or steal, that makes him more noble than a third of us. - 1 year ago
