    • Well, believe in what you want but in the end this country is supposed to be equal for everyone and people are supposed to be able to practice any religion which they choose so I see nothing wrong with it...

    • Good! Far too long our government has persecuted satanic church goers in this country. How much money did our FBI waste to try and locate Satanic Cultists in America in the 1990s, again? (Only to find NONE in their entire investigation)

    • The only thing worse than a ridiculously illegitimate religion like Satanism getting tax exempt status is a ridiculously illegitimate religion like Christianity getting tax exempt status.

    • As dumb as this is what do you expect? If the government ignored fringe churches they would be playing favorites, if they recognize all of them they would be suckers. But why is the government in the business of deciding whats a religion and whats not anyway? They should do away with this non-sense and end all religious tax exemptions.

    • No religious group should be tax exempt.

The Satanist church as a concept has more in common with Some dork Klingon group or Lord of the Rings elves LARPers than anything "satanic". They're just the usual neopagans, replete with all the borrowed, bought and invented cultural elements required to fake it along with the historically established religious groups. Whatever.

Tax exemption to any church isn't great, unless we're talking about the maintenance and preservation of historical buildings that they use.

    • Get over yourselves. If they are a non-profit group they have the same rights as any other non-profit. The KKK has been getting away with it for years and if that's not the devil than what is?

    • This is a cult. Not a religion. There is a real difference and should not be given tax free status. The leader is a huckster, should be shot and the family billed for the bullet. ahhh....he's not even worth that much effort.

Hey Ride442...I've got a little revelation for you.........You're ALL cult members....DON'T forget it. Your cults view of themselves as a "religion" just shows the arrogance you and your fellow cult members have acquired along the road of denial. Sorry to burst your bubble.

If there are ENOUGH of those "NOT in YOUR religious club",...to seem like rivals,....then they are "pagans",...."heathens",...or "non-believers" . If there are enough of them to actually give you a cultural run for your money =religion. If you can afford to ignore them at your convenience/discretion, except to occasionally persecute them and hunt down a few "terrorists" =cult.

I think that defines the parameters of the terms well enough. Oh,....+^d.

    • If you ever look into it, Satanists are actually peaceful people, I believe it's a form of Atheism... just with goat heads, black clothes, upside down crosses and shit...
Their churches encourage the people who attend to help out in the community, give back, and be as friendly as possible.

Of course, this could all just be a guise to lure you in, then when your in their grasp they devour your soul...

But if you are a Mormon, they DO tell you who to vote for. I know that for a fact.

I'm sure the other cults (religions) do the same thing. You WILL vote for who we want to win. Usually Republican.

    • Since we the tax payers pay for access to the Churches, the roads, the water mains, the electrical lines, the utilities, etc, for Synagogues, Mosques, Temples, etc, does that not mean they are receiving public funds? The Constitution says, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion."
As long as my city, state, or country gives them OUR tax money to run their “religious” buildings, we are in effect “respecting” them. It seems to me we are crossing the line of separation of church and state.
Therefore I say, tax them. They are not independent from the rest of society; they use our money and infrastructure.
Plus, I believe that every religious building and the words preached in them cannot be used for any particular political purpose or hate speech. We need to monitor what is taught in those religious buildings to be sure they do not propagandize against anyone. If they do spout hate or politics, and do not allow equal access too other viewpoints (voiced just like the pastor(s) etc), we can pass laws to regulate them or even close them down as they are subject to our laws as long as we fund them through our tax funded infrastructure, like any other publiclly funded building. That is unless of course they want us to unhook the power lines, plow up the road access, and remove any other utilities, and send them the Bill for it. Then they can be separate and unhindered by our government.
It sounds like a great way to make the religious houses of hate become dilapidated eyesores which we can then condemn and bulldoze.

    • It's a religion, so why are people surprised it would also qualify to be tax exempt? It just goes to show that some people only like laws when they are the favored ones.

The idea that religious institutions should not pay taxes was developed for two reasons: religions like having money (and do they ever have so many piles of it), and the government thought it was a way to help foster the separation of church and state by removing the incentive for religious institutions to become political patrons. Removing them from the realm of taxes was intended to give them independence from the state's influence, and visa versa. Unfortunately, all it happens to inspire is the urge to turn religious institutions into money laundering operations that with no less corrupt influence. If anyone should be against the tax exempt status of religious buildings, it should be religious people. That is, unless they really like attracting frauds, hucksters and charlatans to take their money. Oh wait...that's kind of what religion DOES.

    • Will the real Satan please stand up???
Doo Doo Rotten Me Chapter 12, Verses 1 thru 8:
1: And God said, I am all knowing, loving, and powerful. So let me make Satan so as to tempt mankind into the tortures of Hell, for fun!
2: Then therefore I can in my infinite love, watch mankind burn in perditions flame. For I love everything, including the snap crackle pop of eternally burning flesh. It reminds me of Rice Krispies!
4: Let those who stupidly lost lovers in life eternally fly in a cold hurricane unable to reach their loved ones just inches away. You should see them struggle in vein. It’s totally shits and giggles!
5: Let those who never heard of Christ, somewhere in Borneo or like an isolated Island, be entombed alive for eternity for believing in other gods. You should hear them scream while buried alive! Makes me deliriously happy!
6: Let the Fagots all go to Hell for loving in the way I made them. I never gave them a chance, but I am not evil.
7: Let them freeze in burning cold for mocking all the crap I just said. For I am the biggest asshole on the block, and got it “locked up” saith the Lord Your God.
8: Let the Ezri be damned for pointing out that many Christens actually believe this hypocritical shit. The bitch!

My thing is, if Atheists were Satanists then why would they wait until one gets a tax exempt status to join? Wouldn't they already be members, and (GASP) Atheist Satanists?

Also, Lulz are in order for believing in the Devil existing but not God(who created the Devil via THE BIBLE, therefore creating a VERY large loophole for any Atheist-Satanists hybrids). Damned tricky Atheists/Satanists with their nonsensical logic.

I see you trolling... Now no more before blood shoots outta my eyes.

    • You guys do realize that the Satanist religion is a non-theistic religion (much like Buddhism), right?

Satan in real satanism is really just used as a symbol of rebellion, and that the church's "goal" is for its followers to indulge in things other religions consider damnable (i.e. heidenism (I most likely spelt that wrong)). It also preaches against judging others save their actions.

      -----------------

Its somewhat good to know that despite their intolerence of everything else, they still are able to tolerate other religions.

    • How tiresome . Propaganda to twist loose the separation of church and state . BE AFRAID ! I have been seeing more of this justification of "christianity" over other religions for some time . If there were no christians , there would not be any satanists . One is a reaction of the other . There is no "devil" in the pagan religions , that I know of . I believe it is a creation of christianity , the bipolar religion . It NEEDS opposites . Very similar to Zoroastorianism .

true, but hades wasn't seen as evil, just nuetral. If you were good, you were allowed to dance in the fields for the rest of eternity, if you were evil you were punished according to the crime (IE if your actions kept food and clean water from the poor you would spend an appropiate length of time chained up with an apple branch just out of reach and a pond of water just low enough not to drink from... which I think would be an amazing punishment for some modern people). He's kindof like the christian God/devil all in one.

This was whole religion . A world view of divinity , where each god had his role and place , just as in christianity ..... Satan has his place in that world . That and only that is where he exists . I think this contributer to the overwhelming fear of death in this culture as well .

Only FOX News conservatives protest religious buildings.

Liberals are the ones who believe in freedom of religion.
