He followed these people to the hospital and tore up the ticket he was writing them after the ER staff told them their daughter was dead--but he never once bothered to help them or show them any compassion.

Yes he was very unhelpful but on the other hand it has been my experience that if you panic in a life threatening situation like the mother did that is not good either. Instead of attempting to drive the child to the hospital in New York City in a non emergency vehicle which didn't help much she might of done better while she waited for the ambulance to flag down a cop or fireman or doctor or some one with EMT training. This is in New York a heavily populated area there must of been lots of people close by to where the ambulance was dispatched.

I have a very dear freind who has wanted to be a cop for a long time. He got stuck working in the jail for years because they said he was not agressive enough and he was to kind! They finally gave him a patrol job though becuase he was the best driver on the force and they needed someone for high speed chases. He loves his job and he loves to help and so far only one guy has made the mistake of resisting arrest with him, mostly becuase he is a nice guy and if he's taking you in your ok with that. The one guy who did try to fight back though, lets just say he's in jail now, and will be there for a long time.

The parent had all the the child's medication but it wasn't working. that tells me that there is something else going on. So I really don't think CPR would have helped much. The mom panicked because she thought the ambulance was taking too long but what is "too long" for a parent with a dying child? She could of contributed too. By the same token as the rude idiot cop.

We have many of those in the U.S. He had no idea why she was going down a way street Being a cop in a city like New York can be very stressful. We don't how many idiots this cop had to deal with prior to running into this incident.

A cop is payed and trained to quickly assess the situation, the woman was in obvious distress, and you cant miss an asthma attack. He was just being a cocky arrogant ass becuase he could and it cost this little girl her life there is no excuse for that. It is murder plain and simple.

Sure they are. A human is a human not all humans especially beat down cops can think quick enough. Not all cops know CPR I do not believe that is a mandatory requirement to be a New York City cop. This cop witnessed an accident from a lady driving down a one way street. That was his first impression. When he was asked if he knew CPR he replied rather rudely no. You cannot make people polite and courteous if they are not inclined that way.Manners are taught and learned in the home. True they ought to be but in reality they are not all. That is not murder. you need to stop letting your emotions run your life.

Cops are required to to know cpr, all of them are. In every state city and county they are required, cops do not like to do cpr because it is mouth to mouth and risky for them. But if your not a cop to help people then you shouldnt be a cop at all.

We all need to live and pay bills and taxes and not all of us can work the jobs we want. That is the reality. I hope you don't think that he is the only negligent law enforcement officer out there. Crap like this plays out all the time maybe different scenarios.
For instance, there are lots of innocent folks sitting in jails because of our negligent systems.

I also don't think there are that many over zealous cops to begin with. I think the cops in the county I live are about as diplomatic as a I.E.D.

Oh there are so many negligent cops it is disguting wether it is laziness or just their power trip, there are far to many who just shouldnt be cops at all. Todays law enforcement system is just repugnent dont even get me started on the incompatence of public defenders and the complete control of the system by prosectors. Well being able to afford a good attorney is a issue in every state because that's the way the system is set up. It really doesn't matter f you are guilty or innocent in our courts. What matters is what you can prove.

I've been pulled over for speeding and had the cop say "Atleast tell me you're rushing to the hospital." It should be a matter of protocol that they do what they can to save a life FIRST, and sort the rest out later. "Protect and Serve"?

Yes but from what I understand that mouth device is thin and does not nessicarily protect from vomiting which i understand can be quite common in cpr. That does not however excuse they are first responders and are trained to handle these things for a reason.
