Shocking!! Cop lets 11 Year Old Girl Die in Car from Asthma Attack
-
-
- KSirys
- added this
"She was my angel. I cannot believe my baby is gone," the devastated mother, Carmen Ojeda, said of daughter Briana.
The NYPD is trying to determine whether the man was a cop, auxiliary officer, traffic agent or private security guard.
The tragedy happened after Briana suffered an asthma attack at 5:15 p.m. Friday at a playground in Carroll Gardens.
"We have all the equipment in the car but nothing was working. Her eyes started to get really, really big," Briana's heartbroken dad, Michael, told The Post.
Carmen Ojeda called 911 but couldn't wait for the ambulance and took off in her car.
To break free from heavy traffic, Ojeda turned the wrong way on a one-way street, and hit a parked car.
She then flagged down a marked car and the uniformed man got out and screamed, "What the f - - k are you doing going down the wrong way?" Michael said.
"My wife screamed at him, 'Help! My daughter needs CPR.' "
The man "smirked" and responded, "I don't do CPR," Michael said.
The mom said she pleaded to be allowed to continue to Long Island College Hospital while the girl was "still breathing," but he tried to box her in.
Good Samaritan Scott Voloshin, who performed CPR on Briana on the way to the hospital, told WABC/Channel 7 he's certain the man was an NYPD officer.
Whoever stopped Ojeda eventually followed her to the hospital. After a doctor broke the news that Briana had died, the "officer" ripped up a ticket he had been trying to give Carmen, Michael said.
A source said every cop in the local precinct was interviewed and none was at the scene.
Briana, who was set to enter the sixth grade at St. Francis Xavier School, wanted to be lawyer and would donate her allowance money to help animals, her mom said.

Officer Alonso Mendes, you should be killed. You have no business being human, much less a police officer. It's sad, i'm a former marine, white, male, and I'm starting to hate the police. I was in a car with a black tattoo artist friend of mine. The man never used drugs in his life ( his vice is women, but thats a different story), while at a gas station a pig struck up a conversation with him about how nice his vehicle was ( he owns his own shop and is very successful) and he says thanks, gets in and drives off.
A mile or two down the road we r pulled over, taken out of the vehicle, it is searched and they come back with a roach ( for those who don't know that is the unsmoked remains of a joint or blunt). Total BS. I know for a fact there was no roach in the ashtray as they claim because I smoke pot and at the time smoked cigs, I had just smoked a cig and used his ashtray. If there had been a roach in there I would have seen it.It sucks to think I used to be the typical white male who believed the popo had our best interests in mind but after that incident i will NEVER trust the police again.
BTW, my friend was exonerated ( he passed a piss test) but the ""officer" kept his job, goddamn, maybe Ice-T was right... - 1 year ago

WTH is going with NYPD? There is no mistaking an NYPD with security guard and we know it ws as they showed up to give the woman a ticket after her kid died.. This is just so wrong .. If this was something other a NYPD officer he need to be flogged for just being a low life and no at lease trying to do CPR. The Mayor better get his check book out he's going to be paying for this one.
Our Prayer got out this family and we hope Justice is served in this crime and the man is found..

Sheer incompetence and the entire department is covering for the a-hole which leads me to believe, this is just "business as usual" for them. If push comes to shove how hard is it to load the kid and mother in the back of the vehicle and sound off to the closest hospital?
This is exactly the kind of "officer" that shoots first and asks questions later.

Seriously--the Patriot Act which was originally conceived and written by the most corrupt, criminal administration ever who basically would have used the Constitution for toilet paper if it was not sealed under glass--and passed by George W. and the Republican controlled congress by the way--But in your mind somehow President Obama is now responsible because some complete amoral asshole decided to be a dick and worry about his car instead of help a child?
That and did you even read the article? The guy was just some dumbass in a uniform who claimed to be a police officer. He followed these people to the hospital and tore up the ticket he was writing them after the ER staff told them their daughter was dead--but he never once bothered to help them or show them any compassion.
But OMG you seem to think that's a reason to vote Republican? I guess that actually makes me incredulous.

This is one of the most tragic stories to come along in a while. A senseless death because of the inflated ego of a police officer who more than likely wasn't willing to do anything to help the girl or her mother because of their ethnic identity.
The policeman should have given them a police escort to the hospital the moment he realized that the girl was having an attack rather than play the role of being the bad ass cop who was going to punish the immigrant for going the wrong way down a one way street.
I heard on the news that he got a 30 day suspension without pay. However, that is not good enough. With the street justice that prevails in the city where this took place....he is better off looking for another job in another state than expecting to get off without some type of repercussion for what he did.
The officer will likely become a statistic if he goes back to his job without a public apology.

Yes he was very unhelpful but on the other hand it has been my experience that if you panic in a life threatening situation like the mother did that is not good either. Instead of attempting to drive the child to the hospital in New York City in a non emergency vehicle which didn't help much she might of done better while she waited for the ambulance to flag down a cop or fireman or doctor or some one with EMT training. This is in New York a heavily populated area there must of been lots of people close by to where the ambulance was dispatched.

They finally gave him a patrol job though becuase he was the best driver on the force and they needed someone for high speed chases. He loves his job and he loves to help and so far only one guy has made the mistake of resisting arrest with him, mostly becuase he is a nice guy and if he's taking you in your ok with that. The one guy who did try to fight back though, lets just say he's in jail now, and will be there for a long time.

The parent had all the the child's medication but it wasn't working. that tells me that there is something else going on. So I really don't think CPR would have helped much. The mom panicked because she thought the ambulance was taking too long but what is "too long" for a parent with a dying child? She could of contributed too. By the same token as the rude idiot cop.

this is why I don't really appreciate cops. or at least have a slight fear of them and a complete lack of trust that they'll be protective.
if you try to express any fear or concern, I just wonder when they could ever feel like they must react to you. they could...tase you, beat you, punch you, throw you against their car, shoot you wrongfully, ignore your pleas for medical attention if ever you start to have some kind of physical reaction or need from the anxiety and stress of a situation...
that's just when you're in trouble! not to mention the cases where they attack for no reason, throw you down, falsely accuse you and apprehend you when they don't even know what has really happened and refuse to hear you speak out on the truth.
these thousands of brutality/abusing power cases don't have me trusting police forces ever again.

Yes but from what I understand that mouth device is thin and does not nessicarily protect from vomiting which i understand can be quite common in cpr. That does not however excuse they are first responders and are trained to handle these things for a reason.

Yeah you seem passionate about it. My daughter is a lifeguard so she was required to learn it. A very noble skill. I hear there is a new option instead of mouth to mouth but I forgot what that was.
