Insect brains 'are source of antibiotics' to fight MRSA

Cockroaches, far from being a health hazard, could be a rich source of antibiotics.

A study of locust and cockroach brains has found a number of chemicals which can kill bugs like MRSA.

Scientists hope these could become a powerful new weapon to boost the dwindling arsenal of antibiotics used to treat severe bacterial infections.

The research was announced at a meeting of the Society for General Microbiology.

The researchers discovered nine different chemicals in the brains of locusts and cockroaches, which all had anti microbrial properties strong enough to kill 90% of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) while not harming human cells.

    • Progress is great, but My Grandmother use to say, you go to Hospitals to die... New Antibiotics are cool and they have saved my life at least once. But they should be used to save lives and used carefully, otherwise they lose their bite.

People are dying from MRSA bacteria as the result of the overuse of antibiotics and antibacterial agents in soap, detergents and toothpaste.

Antibacterial soap has also been linked to cancer, upsets hormones including thyroid, and contaminates breast milk.

Some 72% of all liquid soap sold in the United States now contains antibacterial ingredients, as do many toothpastes.

People who use antibacterial soaps and cleansers develop bacterial-born illnesses just as often as people who use products that do not contain antibacterial ingredients.

This video mentions that it is natural for certain bacteria to be on our skin. Unlike what we've been taught, bacteria is not our enemy. Children exposed to bacteria in early childhood actually have stronger immune systems.

Bacteria only becomes uncontrollable when our immune systems are suppressed by a lack of nutrition, stress, too little sleep and of course prescription drugs, which purposely suppress immunity.

Over 95% of the time that antibiotics are prescribed it is for viruses such as colds and flu, despite the fact that this is futile - but it is big business.

Bacteria fights back against attacks from antibiotics and antibacterial agents found in household products, and the result is "super bugs."

The best way to stay healthy is to eat healthy and take high quality nutritional supplements. Get enough sleep, sunshine, and eliminate stress as much as possible.

Antibacterial soaps bring in $16 billion per year for their makers, despite the fact that they don't work and are dangerous.

All-natural soaps are great. You can get them at health food stores. I like to buy soaps whose labels I can read and understand. Olive and lavender oil are some possible ingredients, for example.

    • ...I've just cancelled the pest exterminator...

...but seriously, MRSA, is occurring in alarming rates in our hospitals...hope this proves successful in trials for insidious, deadly Staph infections... great post, V...

I've beast MRSA twice but when it was in me I could feel how powerful it was. One time I beat Lyme's when I was angry, so I think adrenaline burned em up. That time. People who succumb to illness many times they have a reaction of fear so they seem to get what they expect to happen i.e. the worst.

Calling Dr. Kildare oh calling Dr. Kildare! They're convinced medical care is their only hope, so medical care becomes their only hope. duh.

Not too many. Inheriting the thyroid from the wrong parent was essentially an incompatible organ transplant, but Mom was hyperactive so it was making gobs of [incompatible] hormone that was poisoning me. I as bipolar so more or less the bipolar was also including the thyroid. Without thyroid the immune system is rather narcoleptic.

Got my last two Gravity Wheel designs on my homepage www.newpath4.com so we're gonna work on that some tomorrow. It looks real good. I helped one of the guys over on the other blog tonight how to fix his by adding a trap door for the balls to fall through as it spins.

Uhm, my blood pressure has been up for years and I've just nailed a reason for it being so bad. I've been taking a product called Leptorexin. It's main selling point is it dissolves fat from the waistline. Since my body temperature is cold ~usually around 96.2~ apparently the dissolved fat was getting to the cold blood vessels and congealing inside the blood vessels sticking to the walls.

hehehe Killer Diet from Hell eh?

Polio missed me, got a first cousin. Got a boy two houses away too. I only got the ones I could live through and still look normal. That way people could call me a faker, very important.

Dad saved me once by putting me in a cold tub. And another time he cleared up a severe ear infection by dribbling hydrogen peroxide into the ears.

I've always had plenty of entertainment. That time I flipped the bike up & off a ramp and landed on my forehead with my neck bent back wasn't too bad. I got up and walked away.
