With much of the nation in the throes of a bloody drug war against violent cartels, more than 200 people gathered Sunday in a Mexico City park to smoke marijuana and demand its legalization.

The activists braved pouring rain to rally on the popular tourist drag of the Alameda to have a smoke-in protesting marijuana's illegal status in Mexico, reports AFP.

    • Am I the only one who thinks it's incredibly stupid to "Demand the legalization" of something and do the illegal thing at said rally? Makin' it easy for the cops, eh? I guess pot will do that to people...

    • Fucking IDIOTS--Don't you know--SMOKING DOPE, Makes YOU a DOPE! The only reason they want it legal, is so they can make "EASY MONEY", and get away with it... Just a bunch of lazy assed bastards that don't work, won't work, and don't give a rat shit!

    • You (herer) have literally never posted anything that wasn't pot related.
I mean it's better than me never posting anything at all... but you should bring some of that attention you get to do some good. Some Good for things other than a plant that will never cease to grow.

    • Jack herer. You smoke entirely too much pot man. This is coming from a guy nicknamed bud man (budmayne) Ease up on the pot stories. Hows about bringing some attention to our oceans getting shit on. Instead of things like "this innocent guy got arrested for smoking marijuana in public" or "marijuana isn't bad for you in anyway at all."
sorry, just bitching, but come on man.

    • I bet the violence would go down, maybe not a lot, but some lives could be saved with legalization of a product being trafficked by cartels.

I disagree.. It will just lead to more problems. For example, the "CARTEL", controling the market of sale, it's called legal criminal acts, like the MAFIA for instance. Just another way for the "CARTEL" to make easy money. Your wrong on this one dude......

Remember when the government allowed cigarettes which contain polonium (radioactive) and arsenic to be sold legally to those 18/19 or old? Oh right they're still fucking doing it.

First off, the cartels ALREADY control the market of sale. That's why 60% of their profits come from, are you ready for this? MARIJUANA!!! They're already making "easy money" as you so aptly stated. What the hell are you talking about "legal criminal acts"? That phrase doesn't even make sense. Just what "legal criminal acts" are you talking about? I'd specifically like to hear about the ones committed by the mafia like you say.

If the marijuana trade is legalized and regulation is of this trade is handed over to the federal government, there will no longer be a need to buy from shady dealers and criminals, thus destroying the vice grip maintained by the cartels. It's the same principle with alcohol prohibition. How many murders do you hear about are committed over moonshine? NONE(or very few at least). How many gang wars are fought over the illegal alcohol trade? Once again, NONE. This is because the federal government controls the regulation and sale of alcohol. During Prohibtion, criminals controlled the sale of alcohol much like they do today with marijuana: with brutal violence and intimidation. So tell me all-knowing one, how do you figure the cartels will make "easy money" once marijuana sales are under the control of the US government?

I swear, idiots like you never cease to amaze me.
