Kenneth R. Wells, 57, of St. Charles County, was charged in 2008 after a house fire led investigators to find plants that added up to 1.4 pounds of marijuana in his basement. He said he used the marijuana to deal with chronic epilepsy. His attorney, Wayne Schoeneberg, said he received a letter this week from Prosecutor Jack Banas' office saying Wells will not be prosecuted if he does not have any new violations during the next two years.
"I think that's a good resolution all around," Schoeneberg said.

@somethingcoolr5, it wouldn't surprise me if the gov't funded black ops w/ drug sales like they did w/ the cia and ricky ross in the eighties to fund wars in central america, but generally prohibition is the abdication of control to the most brutal cartels. In mexico it used to be semicontrolled until Calderon shook up the hornets nest; the allowed one to prosper and focused resources on the others.
@H20_4U the Canadian gov't's single sanctioned provider produces a single low quality strain in a polluted mineshaft in flin flon manitoba. The US gov't has a similar situation at ole miss providing a single low quality strain (high quality stains clog up in their rolling machines) to irv rosenfeld and a couple othe grandfathered investigational new drug patients.
I agree huge corporations would probably not be much better thand the current government monopoly on herb supply, but we really need to open it up to small artisnal shops, just like small microbrews. More strains better, better quality and maximum consumer benefit. Corporations would be inevitable with legalization, and it wont be so bad as long as we allow boutique growers.
Currently a lot of places if you want weed, it is whatever the dealer has..and if he isn't shorting you or pinching, then it is adulterated w/ sand or lead, or not fully dried, or moldy, or not trimmed totally (or is straight trim and shake); and in a normal market you just stop going there and get from a legit source. In the blackest markets there is no choice and even if there is multiple dealers it is all the same crap from some crime boss higher in the chain (who could be backed by the local pigs), and they thrive because people just want to get high.
Very little is within our relm of control, but what we buy and what we consume is one of the few things we do control, and people need to recognize. - 1 year ago

I don't know. I still think that if it's medicine, it should be grown and refined by the government so it will get into the hands of the ones who need it the most.

I very much disagree, Marijuana is a gift from God and is intended for use by all. Let's not confuse this miracle Herb with the very infectious toxic venom Alcohol that detrimentally effects our whole society in the blink of an eye. Marijuana treats many illnesses and does not cause them. Please people do some research for yourself and do not be blindly led by Republican influences.(FOX NEWS)

I wish people thought more before they post things because it can never be taken back when the learn. If it's not owned by the government then only the most corrupt CEOs and Wallstreet will keep it all to themselves and force minorities and the sick to pay extreme amounts to be healthy. This is a big mistake a lot of tea parties fall for and I am sad to see it on current. Now I think I have opened your mind enough I can get back to teaching my class. Phew... so many people to teach!
