LAKE MARY, Fla. — A father who took matters into his own hands after his daughter told him other children were harassing her has caused some troubles of his own.James Jones, 42, is facing two misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing a school function following his tirade on a Florida school bus on Thursday.

Given the situation with his daughter he was right to do this but not to use the language he did to the children on the bus or to move and speak in a threatening matter, that went to far in my view, and should have been handled in a more mature manner! I understand his anger and saw the tape filmed on the bus,but he went to far!

power to him, i wish my dad had been there to fight some of my battles for me, but i had always been too scared to say anything about it to him, and when i told the school administartors, they were unwilling to do anything about it, because they did not see it happen
thats when i took matters into my own hand, got into several fights, and got arrested and supended twice
our school systems are really backwards, unwilling to prevent the problem, but after the incident occurs, theyre always ready to point fingers

covertops, it was said in the video... follow the link
here we are with school employees not even able to speak english? how are they supposed to be able to do their jobs on the bus if they cannot even understand what the children are saying?? the schools need to take a stand against this behavior especially in a situation where a child is handicapped....
he had tried to contact the school in situations preceding this event. of course he should not be speaking like that in front of children, but what else was he supposed to do when the school is turning a blind eye to it?

i was unable to find where the story says she has cerebal palsy?? bullying ususally is not an ingrained trait. kids are taught to bully.
***I was always young for my grade. We lived in Ga and I was in preschool at 4. This one little boy was giving me a hard time. I told my father and he came to the school. My Dad and I met his Dad and him on the playground. Fathers spoke and Dad2 reprimanded his son. The son learned to bully b/c of the way his father acts. He bullied the son, who had in turn bullied me. I was left alone after that, but my DAD and I still talk about it.
Bullying is part of a cycle of abuse. Or part of ignorant parenting.
I agree that MR. Dad in this article was a little over the top. Buslady should have interviened in the first place. Probably should have gone done differently, but when parents stick up for their kids it is a good thing. - 2 years ago

I realize that my opinion is politically incorrect, but I have to say this, if anyone abused a child of mine who was disabled they would know the full force of my wrath..if a man is wrong for defending his disabled daughter then I don't want to be right.

I believe this man did the right thing. Someone needs to take a stand and he did. The sissy talk will do absolutely nothing, bullies need to get a strong warning. I think this is absurd to focus on the bullies reaction of fear and criminally charge protective father, who did not physically attack anyone. The father and his child are the victims, the father has a right to protect his family!

Damn right! Waiting and hoping for someone else to protect YOUR child is complete lunacy. The school failed so he had to step in.

I mostly agree with your comment. But disagree with the last sentence. I believe this is exactly the kind of role model his daughter needs. I hope she feels that her father is her hero and I hope she will take away the lesson that she must stand up for herself. Unfortunately the bullies will learn a lesson that all they have to do is shift the blame and play victims after their violent behavior, and since no one really condemned their behavior they will continue on.

Sorry, the 13 year old who hits another and puts condoms on the heads of others NEED to learn a better behavior. Obviously sissy talk does not work.

Violence, while abhorrent, is the only language some people (including kids) understand. At 13 years of age I was getting my ass kicked regularly by a group of bullies in the greater Boston area. I would have loved my father to step in. He gave me a 2 x 4 and told me to deal with it like he had to when he was a kid. I never did. I just ran until we finally moved. Nothing like laying on the ground being kicked by five or six twelve to fourteen year old boys.
I hear the girls bathrooms can be rather dangerous as well. - 2 years ago

Apparently the bus driver and school can not control bulling and abuse of children. Father can and should stand up to protect his daughter.
A mother of one of the accused bullies, Aileen Brundidge, was "beside herself with anger on what happened". “I was upset to the point where I wanted to cry,” she said.
She instead should be upset about her child's behavior who was accused of placing condoms on another child's head and bulling. - 2 years ago

True, but what bothers me the most is the attitude that this man had no right to protect his child. The media should be blamed for representing the bullies and their parents as victims. This is very wrong.

Sad isn't it? What's a parent to do? The 'court of public opinion' fades with the next news cycle. We will all just move along. But, I hope the school takes it further and investigates, what pushed this father to feel the need to protect his son? Bullies are not victims. Were they bullies? If they have footage of the father on the bus, they should have footage of the bullies on the bus?

“This is my daughter, and I will kill the (expletive) who fought her,” Jones said on the video.
Alonzo Brundidge, 13, said he got scared after Jones started yelling at him and his friends.
“He said he was going to (expletive) the bus driver up first, and he (then) he was going to do it to everybody else,” he said.
His mother, Aileen Brundidge, was beside herself with anger on what happened.
“I was upset to the point where I wanted to cry,” she said.
- So this guy offended other people's children. If they follow his example, you've potentially got adults threatening adults and shit gets outta control. That's why parents should stay out of it. Dude shouldn't be cursing at middle-schoolers

He's an adult. He shouldn't have gotten involved. Kids gotta learn to defend themselves. It only makes the daughter look weak in the eyes of the bully to have her dad do that. Now I don't know how intensely these bullies were picking on his daughter - if it was serious, I could understand why he did this. But most likely it was the normal kinds of bullying that everyone deals with at some point in their life. GO BACK TO BASE, HELICOPTER PARENTS!

He has a daughter with cerebral palsy and a boy at school fought her?
That man showed remarkable restraint.
Sure there were other options available for him to take, but he can't be blames especially if there were a group of kids bullying her. Besides, they're in middle school, not 3rd grade. They should know better. I knew children with physical and mental handicaps at the middle school I went to, and no one bullied them or tried to fight them. That boys mother who is "beside herself with anger" needs to worry about the kind of mother she is to raise a son who bullies a handicapped girl.

I don't agree. I think a father has a right to speak up against other student's bullying his daughter, especially when the schools do nothing. If those little punks were afraid of her dad, they might think twice before messing with the next kid, and I hope they will. Dad should have constrained the explicatives, but geez, your avitar is exactly the character I was thinking of when I first read this. Middle school kids had to be the inspiration behind his character.

If she had cerebral palsy, then I understand why the dad did that. Someone else should have stood up for her long before that. That bus driver is an asshole. Now that I know that girl was handicapped, those kids deserved to be scared shitless by an adult.

you're probably right about the inspiration for old Alex. Picking on a handicapped girl is almost as bad as some of the stuff Alex does in "A Clockwork Orange". I didn't realize the girl was handicapped when I initially responded to this though. That totally changes things in my mind. I'm on the dad's side now. Those little turds should be permanently kicked off the bus at a minimum

I am almost willing to bet the kid(s) that were picking on this child will not be from now on. I KNOW when my Daughter tells me someone is picking on her my testosterone gets to pumping as well. I would hope to handle it better than him, but I UNDERSTAND his outburst.
