Pedestrian killed on Route 46 leaving event at Teterboro AirportTETERBORO -- Sunday, September 26, 2010 -- A 28-year-old woman walking home from the Wings and Wheels Expo at Teterboro Airport this afternoon was struck by a car and killed, police said.
Claudia Suits, 28, of Little Ferry, attended the event, which displays World War II airplanes and other vintage airplanes, cars and military vehicles, with her family, Moonachie Police Chief Michael Maguire said in a statement today. Suits left the event ahead of her family.
Walking home along the shoulder of Route 46 eastbound in Teterboro, Suits was hit by a car driven by John Passarella, 51, of Hasbrouck Heights, Maguire said.
Suits was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, but died of her injuries, Maguire said. Passarella was also evaluated at the hospital but did not sustain any serious injury.
