CANNABIS DECRIMINALIZED in CALIFORNIA!!!

Image
ras_menelik
Hell YA! Ex-toker, California Governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, just DECRIMINALIZED the possession of marijuana here in California!

Don’t get us wrong, WEED still ain’t legal, in CA, yet, but this does mean, getting caught with up to a full ounce of WEED is no longer a misdemeanor offense starting January 1. Sure you’ll still have to pay that $100 fine, but you won’t have to show up for that mandatory appearance in front of a judge…just like a speeding ticket.

Once the law takes effect, California won’t be wasting any more cash on judges or attorneys or administrative costs and shit. Last year alone more than 60,000 Californians were busted for possessing weed.

    • come on people, smoking weed is NOT good for you. good grief. I don't even feel it helps your backpain, or whatever, better than medicine prescribed by a real dr.

if you want to smoke it fine, do it in your home, not while your driving or at work, and for any reason don't pass the bong to your little hommie under 21,, the people who are far this have all smoked weed for some time, and are addicted. to pretend this isn't true. there is more to life than smoking weed every day, or all day for that matter.

yah arnold is smoking weed in this pic, great, but he worked his ass off and took a couple of hits for the cameras. smoking anything is bad for your lungs period.

so what if you had some weed in the past, and your not doing it now, that proves you can go with out. economically, this will be a nightmare, think of all the bad things that will happen. people become aggressive, or irritated much quicker when they are on booze or weed, or any drug.

the people who are for Prop 19 need a reality check, and this is not possible while under the influence of a drug.

I have even seen posts that Jesus smoked weed, come on... sighs...

We all like to have fun, sure, but don't think you can smoke weed daily and truly be a productive member or society or a great student. not going to happen.

there are my two bits... stuff that in your hooka

    • The No on Prop 19 group are just protecting the criminal monopoly that Northern Cali growers have over the black market growth and distribution through their Mexican Mafia street thugs. they don't want any competition over pricing and having to deal with organized workers pickers and trimmers forming unions and demanding a fair wage and hours. Currently they can and do fuck over workers by not paying them as much or at all, just to save their bottom dollar. because they know the workers can't go to the police or other authority for help.

Being IN California. Knowing lotsa' growers, your version of this is,..... clouded? Never heard of THAT scenario....EVER. The scenario is usually the other way around. Maybe you know more unscrupulous people than I do? Not saying its never happened, there could be a few bad apples in that bunch. Usually, when someone burns somebody over something like that, well lets just say, "You reap what you sew".

I've never seen, or heard, of any growers dealing with the mexican mafia. Although, I know outdoor growers who leave beans and tortillas around their camps to throw off the feds. Ya ever notice when the feds bust a garden that they rarely ever bust a human being.

And... as far as good pay for good trimmers, the going pay is $25/hr or $225/lb. I don't think unionizing the trimmers would get them any better pay. If the farmers fuck over their trimmers then they will soon be trimming it themselves. The farmers I know treat their help very well.

    • Its great to see that some forward thinking politicians have moved ahead with this new law. I see absolutely no reason for a law abiding, hardworking everyday Joe to be jailed for simple possession of marijuana. Here in Canada the law was relaxed years ago, but not decriminalized. I would hate to see a pot smoker get tarred with the same brush as a rapist or murderer.

Im with you on this. If it goes legal like Prop 19 says, then anybody without "State" weed will be considered a "Bootlegger". Then they'll have to start a new "Agency" to deal with that, More taxes, more bureaucracy, MORE GOVERNMENT, MORE BULLSHIT!!! I kind of like it the way it is. Afterall, any time the Government gets involved with anything, they wreck it for everyone. It will cost 5 times more and only be 1/3 as good. Because "THEY" know what's best for you............... Sure they do.

I absolutely DO NOT. The government is starting to call off the hounds on pot users. ANYTHING the government gets involved in, they ruin it. As an independent businessman I'm dealing with that reality everyday. The E.P.A. has destroyed your ability to get a good paint job. It has made it impossible to clean your dirty parts clean in a normal environment. The State has made it so expensive to have employees that all of California's manufacturing has left the state. Even in Hollywood, They've killed the goose that laid the golden egg. They've Taxed/Fee'd Hollywood out of town. Only ONE show is currently being produced there. So what do they suggest to do about it in Hollywood? "We need a Movie SZAR", they say. WTF?? That means a "More government", along with more penalties to fund it with, People, WAKE UP, this IS tyranny. The next time they say that the government is going to fold due to no money, we should let it fold. Then we, THE PEOPLE, can take it back and start it over again. We just have to be sure that we NEVER let the same idiots that got us into this mess participate. Career politicians are the cancer that destroys what we have worked so hard, for so long to build. They say we can't afford this and that, then they take stuff away from us, yet they vote themselves raises. What do they give back? Anything? Just wait until government health care kicks in. Every other country in the world that has it, hates it. Yet they've just rammed it down,or up our asses, People in Canada and European countries come to the U.S. for decent health care. Does our government tell you that? WHERE in the constitution, does it say that "WE HAVE TO BUY HEALTH CARE"??? If it weren't for the fact that my family lives here, sometimes I think about selling my possessions and leaving this country behind. I'm so sorry to say that. But.the politicians have ruined it, THAT badly.

I know two Canadians who prefer their old healthcare in Canada to what they currently have in the US.

There needs to be a referee especially for monopolies, and networks are natural monopolies.

I agree less government is better, but in some cases it is a necessary evil.

The beauty of prop 19 is that it decentralizes the regulation; so those localities that are opposed to sales can ban them, and those that want to take in tax revenue can regulate them.

My mother in laws boyfriend is a Canadian. He moved down here FOR the health care system. He said it was too slow to even being seen up there. Let alone getting treatment. Said just about any ailment takes about two years to get any results. He said alot of people just die in the waiting .Same situation in the U.K. Been there. Seen it. Like I said, everyone, in other countries that have it, hate it. I'm sure that the poor, entitled people think it's cool. Because they're on the dole anyways. That segment of the population is growing at an alarming rate here, NOW. There just isn't anyway that the shrinking middle class can support that burden anymore. I don't know what Obama's thinking is on this. I guess when you work for the government, you have no worries. But as for the rest of us?????

why the fuck do you guys need to smoke that shit?????

its less dangerous than alcohol..well then dont drink and dont smoke..so you smoke it because its less dangerous.(isnt that kind a stupid)

Your question doesn't have anything to do with the decriminalization of marijuana, though, ayipis. Studies have shown it's less dangerous in almost all respects in comparison to alcohol or nicotine, so basic logic holds that it should be decriminalized, and hopefully one day, legalized.

Dependency on anything can make anyone weak. And how dare you lump all marijuana users together and say "well how many of you are actually IN pain"? Sure, some people probably shouldn't use it as much as they are. Some people may really need it, however, and due to it's status are not receiving it. However, it's going to be this way with almost any beneficial thing the human race has ever came up with. It's just human nature.

I don't smoke, I vaporize. Pain is not the only medicinal use.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGKpbqXwg84 Cannabinoids are naturally occuring neurotransmitters in our bodies; we make them ourselves and they are reffered to as endo-cannabinoids.

If there is such a thing as a chemical imbalance which we are allowed to manipulate (serotonin and norepinephrine) with pharmaceuticals, then couldn't there be a cannabinoid imbalance that can also be treated with all natural exo-cannabinoids.

Also I believe in the spiritual/religious use of entheogens, although when a religiously myopic judge interprets the first amendment they haven't allowed for a true interpretation regarding religious freedom so not much protection there. That's why Clinton signed a law allowing Native Americans with at least 1/4 in their blood to consume peyote legally. I am Chicano and have some native culture in my blood but I am also a guero, but that should not matter; any human being is capable of adopting faith such as that of the First Nations or any other faith for that matter (or is just as justified in seeking to find the truth in them all).

The herb helps the meditation, and helps to reason to find the truth. There is such a thing as spiritual medicine too.

It's been such a cash cow for them to strip the pot head of his money and weed, put him through the court system, and fuck his wallet. Now that they're losing it they're trying to cling to whatever they can.
      How about arresting real criminals?

    • The Stoners Against Legalization crowd have kept in their rhetoric a point that we don’t really need Prop 19, because it only allows you to carry up to an ounce, and that isn’t even an arrestable offense. They’ve even speculated that the California government was intending on passing this decriminalization bill, so even the misdemeanor you get when you’re not arrested for under an ounce would go away. The illogic here is the idea that you should prefer getting a $100 infraction ticket rather than no harassment at all for your less-than-an-ounce.

But keep in mind that when decrim goes into effect on January 1, marijuana is only a infraction, but that means that is still against the law. This means cops still have probable cause to go after that less-than-an-ounce in your pocket so they can write you that ticket. That means if they find more than an ounce, its a misdemeanor with a $500 fine and six months in jail.

After Prop 19 passes, possession of up to an ounce outside the home is LAWFUL. As in, “not even an infraction”. That means that there is no probable cause to search you and harass you based on the sight or smell of marijuana. No more using the sight of your joint or the K-9 unit sniffing your weed as a pretext to begin harrassing you and fishing for another reason to bust you.

Even if you are caught outside your home with more than an ounce, then Prop 19 also helps you where decriminalization does not, because you get “an affirmative defense that the cannabis was reasonably related to his or her personal consumption.”

Also, this decriminalization is an ounce anywhere, including your home. Under Prop 19, you are LAWFULLY allowed to possess at the site of your garden “results of any harvest”, which is all the weed you ever grew in twenty-five square feet of space. Dennis Peron’s attorney J. David Nick speculates he could easily defend 200 pounds in a home under this language.

Let’s not forget that the bill Schwarzenegger signed does nothing for you if you’re growing a marijuana plant – that’s still a felony. The site of a leaf through your window, seeds and stems in your trash, purchases from indoor gardening stores gleaned by tracking your car with GPS without your knowledge, are all still probable causes to bust you. After Prop 19, you could have 31 five gallon buckets worth of marijuana plants in your home and the fact that you have isn’t a probable cause to begin harassing you.

Well you better listen my sister's and brothers,
'cause if you do you can hear
there are voices still calling across the years.
And they're all crying across the ocean,
and they're cryin across the land,
and they will till we all come to understand.

      None of us are free.
      None of us are free.
None of us are free, one of us are chained.
      None of us are free.

And there are people still in darkness,
and they just can't see the light.
If you don't say it's wrong then that says it right.
We got try to feel for each other, let our brother's know that
      we care.
Got to get the message, send it out loud and clear.

      (Chorus)

It's a simple truth we all need, just to hear and to see.
None of us are free, one of us is chained.
      None of us are free.
now I swear your salvation isn't too hard too find,
None of us can find it on our own.
We've got to join together in sprirt, heart and mind.
So that every soul who's suffering will know they're not alone.

      (Chorus)

If you just look around you,
your gonna see what I say.
Cause the world is getting smaller each passing day.
Now it's time to start making changes,
and it's time for us all to realize,
that the truth is shining real bright right before our eyes.

Prop 19 protects workers from discrimination, because employers have to show that it actually negatively impacts their performance. Right now, you cheif on the weekend or after work and then come up dirty even though you are in no way affected on the job...but they can still fire you, that is discrimination.
