Firing not Fireing. But I get it. You can haz cheezburguh, etc., etc.
Since when has it been necessary to be smart to be on television? So, Rick Sanchez wasn't fired because he fell below the I.Q. bar. He was fired because he said that the power structure of those who claim to be left of center protect their own. Are there no bigots in the Democratic Party? Come on. Firing Rich Sanchez was an exercise of power and the instinct of the powerful to deflect criticism and resist introspection.
It's beyond question that ethnic minorities in America are poorly represented in the media and are regularly required to jump above a higher legitimacy bar before gaining acceptance. And even after the initial hurdles, there are more hurdles every day. It's a sort of tax, and it's bleeding away human and economic potential. America could be a distributed system of vital emerging economies, with diversity proportionate to all the hyphens out there; but, instead, we have social and cultural taxation without representation. It's tiresome, inefficient and the path to ultimate defeat.
Rick Sanchez should either have been fired years ago or years from now. The timing of his firing after his remarks concerning bias in center-left mainstream media only confirms that his observations were largely on the mark, on target and on point.
