Extreme climber Drew Bristol was filmed carrying out the daredevil stunt by vulcanologist Geoff Mackley at the remote Marum volcano on Ambrym Island in the South Pacific.
The volcano, which last erupted just a few years ago, is classified as highly dangerous and sends plumes of ash more than a kilometer into the air over the island, which is about 640km from Australia.

In a silver heat-proof suit, Bristol is seen using ropes to lower himself down into the volcano towards the fiery lake. He then pitches a tent 500m down the inside of it while using oxygen canisters to breath.
