Former director Peter Phillips and new director Mickey Huff describe the new directions of the Project and research methodology plus an update from Dave Mathison on Being the Media, London’s Index on Censorship and much, much more! I have not had the chance to dig into these yet. I was hopping other interested posters would individually post the good ones for discussion. I could never remain rich for long; to much need.

    • These are very compelling headlines and I can see why they have gone under reported. Truly sad that the whole house of cards has to collapse before we can create a better world.

    • Fascinating.

With the proliferation of well-funded and well-designed issue-specific blogs, one would hope that the financial backers of these news sources could be rendered more transparent.

What is reported is precisely the same as who is reporting, but it's typically the case that we have no idea who is coloring and spinning the news that we consume. For instance, how many healthy eating websites are actually funded by the fast food industry?

I somewhat disagree with #1 on the list about "Global Plans to Replace the Dollar" as the reference currency. Quite a lot has appeared in the mainstream financial press on that topic, from both the Chinese and Anglo-Euro-American points of view.

It's unclear to me whether the identity of the reference currency is a determinant or symptom of hegemonic power. Currency volatilities have risen dramatically in the past few years, and this puts a brake on international trade. A reversion to isolated parochial economies would endanger the economic recovery.

It seems increasingly likely that a Bretton Woods - like system of controlled cross-rates and interest levels could be put in place in the near future. But the identify of the participants in the system could be controversial, with the danger that trading blocs develop, Balkanizing world trade. So, maybe a sub silentio system effected by large scale currency swap programs and handshake agreements among central banks will be the most popular method.

And the story is there, I should think: In the opacity of how a new global currency and rates regimen is engineered.

I think most of the research is done by grad students. As for number one. I have been noticing a price increase across the board when I am doing basic shopping. Inflation is alive and well and before long everyone will notice.( I hope)
