Can the US consumer absorb higher food prices which may lead to hyperinflation?

    • maybe we'll just have to reduce our meat intake? Just like when gas prices go up, people use less and start finding alternative means.

    • I hear this from people all over the country, so you are not the only one. The next wave of rising food prices is only a few months away, if not sooner, and that is meat prices.
      You can already notice it a little but the price of beef has to go up if farmers wish to make the same profit margin as before.
      The reason is the high commodity prices for corn and wheat.

    • Everything costs more now. Where I live they say you have to make $14 an hour to live comfortably. I'm making $12/hr as a planning engineer at my local aerospace manufacturer and am constantly living from check to check. I haven't even started paying on my student loans yet...

      Wages have not increased at the same rate as everything else... this is bound to lead to problems.
