Does NewsHour ‘Help Us See America Whole’?

A new FAIR study of the PBSNewsHour finds that public television’s flagship news program continues to feature sources drawn largely from a narrow range of elite white male experts. The study, the third FAIR has conducted of the NewsHour since 1990, documents a pattern of failure by the PBS news show to fulfill the mission of public television to provide a broader, more inclusive alternative to commercial news programs.

    • I've never even tried to watch PBS for very long, since I don't find the kids programming amusing anymore.

You're telling me that watching Newshour is no different than watching MSNBC of Fox?

    • That was a good read. Personally, I am not so concerned with "Gender and Ethnicity representation" issues, when it come to presenting hard data and topical overviews, as I am on allowing PURELY ACADEMIC and other scholarly voices to present information that may VERY WELL BE UNPOPULAR across the board. This shouldn't be about some sort of "NEWS DEMOCRACY",....but about OBJECTIVE DEPTH and EXPLORATION of subjects.
      - ratings and popularity be damned.
