Israel Destroys Iran.....on the Chessboard

An Israeli chess grandmaster has broken the world record for simultaneous chess games, taking the title from Iran.

Alik Gershon, 30, took title after a 19-hour marathon match against 523 players whose row of tables snaked across a Tel Aviv square. He won 454, lost 11 and drew 58.

His 86% win rate also outstripped the former record holder, grandmaster Morteza Mahjoob of Iran.

Mr Mahjoob last year bested 397 out of 500 chess players in Tehran.

Jack Brockbank, the on-site adjudicator for Guinness World Records, confirmed the new Israeli record and predicted a renewed chess challenge from Iran.

The new record holder acknowledged the strained relations between the two regional powers, but expressed a wish for peace.

"Hopefully all our wars will be on the chess board, or something cultural, and not real wars," Mr Gershon said.

But he did admit that breaking an Iranian record was a "big bonus" for Israel.

    • We should let Israel do it for real before Iran has nuclear technology which it will give to every Islamic terrorist group on the planet! If Islam gets the bomb we are truly screwed!

      yeah, he was so potent a figure, they crumbled a decade after his last term.aftershock.
      do you have some propaganda reference list, cuz the stuff you come up with some times is just unbalievable.you have to be on more drugs than me.prescription or otherwise to come up with notions so void of reality.

      i tried being high on life from 17 (rehab) to 27.i think a decade is a substantial enough period to claim a sober perspective.if ya like beck im sure you would agree.(glug glug)

      i love that world history is that simple to you.it must be nice not to be concerned with midigating factors, and full scopes of view.bite sized wisdom is convinient.

      and obama revitalized our national political passion as the tea party resulted.why not same limited view void of context.
