The Independent reports the aim of the protest was to show victims world wide they are not alone and to continue a campaign for the UN to state systematic sex abuse of children as a crime against humanity.
Protesters where not allowed into St. Peters square but two attendees were allowed to leave letters from victims at the Holy See. It is reported 100 people from around the world took part in the protest/candlelit march.
"The two became some of the most prominent victims to speak out in the United States after the clerical abuse scandal erupted in their native Boston in 2002 and Mr McDaid was the first victim to meet Pope Benedict XVI when the pontiff visited the US in 2008.
