Buy Your Own Damn Pills! More ObamaCare Shenanigans

That could start a shift toward more reliable — and expensive — forms of birth control that are gaining acceptance in other developed countries.
But first, look for a fight over social mores.
A panel of experts advising the government meets in November to begin considering what kind of preventive care for women should be covered at no cost to the patient, as required under President Barack Obama's overhaul.
Sen. Barbara Mikulski, D-Md., author of the women's health amendment, says the clear intent was to include family planning.
But U.S. Catholic bishops say pregnancy is a healthy condition, not an illness. In comments filed with the Department of Health and Human Services, the bishops say they oppose any requirement to cover contraceptives or sterilization as preventive care.
"We don't consider it to be health care, but a lifestyle choice," said John Haas, president of the National Catholic Bioethics Center, a Philadelphia think tank whose work reflects church teachings. "We think there are other ways to avoid having children than by ingesting chemicals paid for by health insurance."

It wont matter if these pills are free. Most of these people are having children to up their welfare check.
Quick story.
I was talking to an AA lady who works on post for the army, and we were talking about how my 5 year old has been talking to much. The school is testing him for ADD which i was against in the first place, but thats another story. She looked at me with enthusiasm, and said " You know you can get a check from the government for that" The first thought that came to my head was, "Well this is whats wrong with america".

Im a e-4 with 2 kids, and putting a wife threw college. I make 1k every two weeks, and work nearly 60 hours a week for the army. I think i know "the struggle" only difference is i was taught as a child that hard work and sacrifice gets you through. On the other hand people i grew up with are dirt bags sucking off the 99 weeks of unemployment smoking weed. I cant even go home for leave because these leaches find out that im
coming home.Stop living in the projects having children, join the military, and make something out of your self.

It sucks that you have such a negative view of the human race. Whatever experiences you've had that make you feel like that are awful. But, nobody I know chooses to be poor.
It costs between $20,000-$30,000 per semester to go to state college in California (depending on the CSU). And some of my smartest friends simply can not afford it. So when 4 years of school is going to cost almost $100,000 dollars (not counting the cost of living and books), and education is the way to rise up in class from lower to middle and you can't afford the education, you don't have a choice other than military. Which is very noble. But, it shouldn't be the only option. Especially for kids straight out of high school.
All the people I know who on on welfare struggle just to get by. None of them want more babies to "leach" off the system. No one wants to bring more babies in to a household where mom is just struggling to feed and cloth herself, much less a family of 5. And trust me. NOBODY likes living in the projects either. Being poor does not mean you're lazy... It usually means you were born into a disadvantage and society kept you at that disadvantage. It's not fair.

We shouldn't be blaming the poor who can't afford to pay taxes. If we want a country with a good standard of living, it shouldn't be any skin off our noses to help support a family in need.

If you don't support abortion - which will happen no matter what you or I or anyone ever says - then why wouldn't you support contraceptives? You cannot have it both ways. If you don't want women getting pregnant and getting abortions, you need to make sure that they have access to preventative measures. Blocking ALL of this isn't going to stop pregnancy.
The only thing aside from abstinence (which you does not occur ANYWHERE, and especially does not occur in places where abstinence is all that is taught) that can stop pregnancy is contraception.
Fund contraception-> less pregnancy.

But, I believe that it is a choice of a woman. And it's something that goes beyond anything a man could ever experience. Nobody uses abortion as birth control. And anyone who does is obviously sick in the head. It's the worst decision someone would ever have to make. And it's emotionally scarring for life. No one is ever the same again after an abortion.
It's a touchy subject. And household values belong in your own house. Not mine. Your values and morals will not be forced upon me, nor anyone else. And that's where I stand.

First off look Who is wanting more children brought into this world. The Catholic bishops and or Catholic church They want young children so they have plenty of little kids to get touchy feely with. Then as been said before there are those that see a meal ticket the more kids you have the more money you get. Then you have the girls that just want to have sex without the worry of getting knocked up before they are ready. I see girls all the time that have kids that have no idea what to do there are babies haveing babies thats just not right. I myself have to admit I would rather see a girl on the Pill then pushing a baby around that She can't take care of. Many a young girls life has gone down the drain because She got pregnant before She could handle it. I see it all the time here in South Texas.

Well, think about it...
Whether you're a Jew, Christian, Muslim or atheist, you will have sex at some point in your life time. Not everyone will have the resources to buy proper protection from pregnancy. And the people without resources are the most likely to have an unplanned pregnancy.. That doesn't just go to the poor. It includes college students and young adults who are too old to be covered by their parents' health insurance and have not yet found a job to provide their own coverage.
It's a good way to keep kids in school and striving academically instead of dropping out to care for a child.

What you're saying is completely logical. But, lets just be honest with ourselves, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO NOT BE RESPONSIBLE.
From a college student's perspective, free birth control would be a GREAT idea. Where I live, it's $60 for 3 months worth of pills without coverage. Your average 18 year horndog doesn't make enough money for those pills...
A pack of 3 condoms is about $4. It's not bad. And in a world that's fair and just, every man would take the responsibility to keep at least one is his underwear drawer... Not everyone is logical.
So there are 2 groups, the poor and the stupid.. And the stupid are sometimes poor. People are going to have sex no matter what. We should provide resources for free protection. - 1 year ago

yes, it is called responsabilty.but the thing is, literaly thousands upon thousands of years worth of human history has shown that responsability in regards to sex isnt the norm, but a goal we have still yet to reach.
in not functioning stupidly, and recognizing the problem contraception midigates thoughtless sex.the thoughtless sex that continues to generation after generation fuck us up, socialy and economicaly.so you are in favor of not fixing the economy in the specific areas that need attention.wouldnt it be responsible of us, as a society to do something to stop unwanted pregnancies that pull the collective economy down?
when fighting (not defending against) terrorism comes with a trillions of dollars expense, that is good forward thinking.upholding our responsability to our society and culture.
but stopping unwanted pregnancies for a few millon, isnt.despite that to having a broad reach on our society and culture.wouldnt it be responsible once acknowledging a problem (unwanted pregnancies) that we adress it?anytime you are able to create that abstinance program that works, we will all (left and right alike) yield to your superior method.but being as abstinance doesnt work, you are advocating for an already failed agenda, wich you are quite used to.but the rest of us, ya know those crazy progressives that dont yearn for the 50's, will just have to continue to ignore you.

as the common good isnt my responsability alone, ill go ahead and let my democraticaly elected officials take care of when and where condoms should be distributed.plus i dont care how many bastard kids are made each year, they aint mine.
your taxes are also my taxes, and your voice has been heard with mine, and was simply ignored.you dont get your way with abstinance, and i dont get to by my weed at the corner store.deal with it, like a grown up.ya know like a tax paying adult.
no i dont have a job.i just like to pretend i do for the sake of storytelling, on current of all places.i, so in love with the gimmick, that i only logg on to current between 5-9pm to keep up the illusion of employment.im dedicated like that.
ya know, just cuz you do, doesnt mean the rest of us alter reality on here to suite our personal needs

they should.
but they dont.
and then as the fuck ups they are, they raise more fuck ups.
then the nominal fee you pay in tax's becomes literal welfare for them for the rest of thier lives.as you pay with your precious tax dollars for thier shelter, food, and medical, as they fill up our prisons.
but dont worry, they fertalized other fuck ups before they went in so the cycle of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a year for them in perpetuity, wont be interupted by the cost of condoms. - 1 year ago
