Progressives Fight for Ohio
a message from Gov. Strickland
for our Ohio and Democratic friends
Last chance: Get out the vote!

Dear friend,

The polls open in less than 44 hours.

No matter what, this campaign ends on Tuesday night. But whether we win or lose depends on what you're able to do between now and Election Day.

Earlier this week, we set a goal of 60,000 volunteer hours to help us talk to every single one of our voters – and get out the vote in the final days of this campaign.

We're very close to reaching our goal. I'm humbled by your response so far, but to be successful in this campaign, we need a few more Ohioans to commit to getting out the vote before Election Day.

If you haven't already, will you sign up to get out the vote in the final three days?

Yesterday, I had the honor of campaigning across the state with President Bill Clinton.

With crowds of more than 1,800 people in the Mahoning Valley and 1,000 in Canton, it's clear that our supporters are fired up and the momentum is on our side.

President Clinton and I spoke about everything that Ohio has to be proud of over the last four years. We've managed to improve our schools from 27th to 5th in the nation. We've managed to make Ohio a leading state for advanced energy jobs.

And we've managed to do it all despite a global economic crisis worse than anything we've experienced in our lifetimes.

But all that progress is in danger if we don't fight as hard as we possibly can during these final three days.

Help us get out the vote in the last three days of this campaign: FightForOhio.com/GOTV

With your help, we're going to win. Thanks for fighting for Ohio,

Ted

    • Before becoming governor, Ted was my Congressman. He was superb as a rep, bringing attention to a oft-overlooked part of the country and standing up for veterans and minorities. We had a guy who fought for his convictions, and because of that, I supported him wholeheartedly four years ago.

His term has been a massive disappointment. Maybe he's just not cut out for the executive branch, but he doesn't seem to know what he's doing. He tried to fill budget holes in a number of ways, including using federal money earmarked for other things and imposing gambling at racetracks, which led to an embarrassing lawsuit defeat to the GOP. He surprisingly refused to take a stand on the death penalty and grant clemency to condemned prisoners. He's had his chances, as I believe Ohio ranks in the top three in executions in the US. The straw that broke the camel's back for me was when he pressured unions to pull the sick pay initiative off the ballot two years ago. His education policies actually have cut revenue for poor districts.

I cannot, in good conscience, vote for him. I wish so much he was going for the Senate instead of also-ran Lee Fisher, because I think he'd be great.

At the same time, John Kasich will spell doom for the Buckeye State, and I'm terrified at the prospect of him winning.
