Coming Clean with John Kasich's Corporate Campaign...

The Kasich Seven and the Ghost of Lehman

By Ring of Truth

The cornerstone of John Kasich’s campaign are 633 major givers of $1,000 or more in the FIRE (financial, insurance and real estate) business sector – many of them with Wall Street connections. (See “Wall Street, FIRE” article adjacent to this blog.) Among them are the “Kasich Seven” – former Lehman executives now with other financial firms, who have two ties to John Kasich.

1. The “Kasich Seven” contributed from $2,000 to $5,000 each to the Kasich campaign since 2009.

2. Like Kasich, they were former Lehman Brothers executives or associates before or during Kasich’s eight years at the firm.

For example, the two biggest contributors to Kasich among the “Kasich Seven” are Michael j. Odrich and Stuart Francis, each of whom gave $5,000 – far above the average of $3,647 for a major FIRE contributor to Kasich and nearly 15 times the $345 for the average Kasich contributor overall.

Odrich was the head of Lehman Brothers Private Equity business two years ago this week. Living in Greenwich, Connecticut, he is now the Managing Director and Global Head of Alvarez & Marsal Capital, which is currently running Lehman Brothers in bankruptcy and reforming it as Lamco. (See adjacent article Ghost of Lehman linking a breaking story from the Los Angeles Times on September 11, 2010.)

Francis was the Vice Chairman of Lehman Brothers and is now the Vice Chair of Barclay’s Capital, the British firm that bought Lehman Brothers assets in 2008. Living in Burlingame, California, Francis was quoted in the Columbus Dispatch as saying he worked closely with Kasich at Lehman Brothers and the newspaper reported Kasich “had access to important people and was able to set up meetings, but did more than that.”

OK, Come Clean, John Kasich... and answer a few questions about the Lehman Seven. The Truth will set you free – and the rest of Ohioans too:

How much do you know about the new Ghost of Lehman firm – Lamco – and what does Lamco expect of you as governor of Ohio?

What were your relationships with all of the Kasich Seven at Lehman Brothers?

And what are your relationships now that would prompt these particular seven former Lehman executives to become major donors to your campaign for governor?

What would they want from you if you became governor?
