Wilmington man dies after being Tased by police

State police are investigating the death of a Wilmington man after troopers used a Taser to subdue him.
The incident occurred just after midnight Nov. 4 in the 1000 Block of S. Market St., Wilmington.
Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said the 40-year-old man, whose name was not released, was confronted by troopers in the median of Market Street, following a possible domestic altercation.
More details are forthcoming, Hale said.

I know cops that carry a taser get tased themselves when they go through training, so I wonder if a cop has ever died from this? Not that we would ever hear about it, if that happened people might think they were unsafe. Always tragic to hear this kinda thing. Tasers should be used as an alternate to a gun, say for example if someone has a hand weapon and subduing them physically could result in the officers injury, but too many officers use them as a first option for everything. Whatever happened to physically taking down an unarmed perp? Do they not train them to do that anymore? When did cops become such pansy's? Or are they just lazy?

From June 2001 and June 2007, at least 245 cases of deaths of subjects soon after having been shocked using Tasers. Thank god this method has been deemed non-lethal
