When I heard that YouTube finally agreed to take down al-Qaeda's al-Awlaaki's video sermons, the first thing I had to do was check to see if the video I had embedded of him speaking disappeared. To my surprise, it was still visible and in working order. Perhaps it didn't meet the criteria of a 'call to Jihad' and other hateful and murderous actions, but it does specifically attack America and Americans.
According to BBC News, hundreds of clips of Anwar al-Awlaki's calls to jihad which violated a ban on hate speech and incitement to violence were taken down by the site (YouTube). Its parent company, Google, wanted to insure that it balanced its commitment to free speech with the need to blunt calls to violence.
