Wonder Drugs that Kill

Here is a very good article from the 2008 Discover magazine. They have another article in the Nov. 2010 issue called "Modern Medicines Failing Grade." Both articles are VERY good reading for those of use that do not trust our FDA or our pharmacutical companies.

    • Zyprexa will make u gain weight b/c u are always hungry. It will screw with your blood glucose levels also predisposing u to Diabetes.....

    • Proton Pump Inhibitors like Nexium and Protonix decrease the amount of calcium absorbed which can lead to things like broken hips, which in old patients leads to death soon after.

      I knew a lady, who I felt, was killed by her doctor from all of the medications she was on. I tried to show her all the fine print on the warnings, but she trusted her doctor.

      Glad to hear you have been fine. There is another article on this in the Nov. 2010 issue. As soon as it is available to post, I will.
      The problem with the statins is that the side effects may not be worth the price. Over a 5 year period, only 1 in 35 people treated with a statin will show any benefits from the drug. And then it is not certain whether it was the drug or perhaps a change in lifestyle.
      The companies exclude this information in their ads, and our FDA allows it. All the while the short and long term effects are still not reported.

    • Statins may lower bad cholesterol but they attack muscle. The heart is a..... wait for it..... muscle. I took lipitor and could not walk up the stairs the next day. I did a little research and decided that it would be better to have a heart attack with a heart that had not been attacked by statins then flip out about my cholesterol number.

      My boyfriend took Lipitor and the next thing I knew, he was walking off across the parking lot at Home Depot....when I called out to him, he turned around and looked at me like he didn't know who I was. Then he "came to." I threw his Lipitor out when we got home.
      Before Lipitor, he took another statin and the very kind person I knew became violent. I told him of he didn't throw out the pills, I would throw him out. He threw out the pills.
      Sad thing was, his doctor thought he was off his rocker when he told him what happened. His doctor was totally unaware of the side effects and testing processes.

      The posted article speaks to statin drugs and how they are tested. If you are on one of these drugs and have not done any research into them, read the article.

      FTA:
      Golomb says one reason many doctors overlook risks and believe statins to be safe is that most controlled studies of statins wind up excluding people who originally begin to participate in a study but stop taking the drug because they experience problems from it; these test participants are then dropped from the study as “noncompliant.”
