The reported Chinese missile test off Los Angeles came as a double blow to Obama. The day after the missile firing, China’s leading credit rating agency, Dagong Global Credit Rating, downgraded sovereign debt rating of the United States to A-plus from AA. The missile demonstration coupled with the downgrading of the United States financial grade represents a military and financial show of force by Beijing to Washington.
The Pentagon spin machine, backed by the media reporters who regularly cover the Defense Department, as well as officials of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and the U.S. Northern Command, is now spinning various conspiracy theories, including describing the missile plume videotaped by KCBS news helicopter cameraman Gil Leyvas at around 5:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, during the height of evening rush hour, as the condensation trail from a jet aircraft. Other Pentagon-inspired cover stories are that the missile was actually an amateur rocket or an optical illusion.

China needs us more than we need them. Time to default on Chinese held tbills and institute 25% tariffs on chinese goods. Bring back American manufacturing we can plow the tariff money into revamping and upgrading idle factories in the Midwest.

Come on, war is not a good thing to us all.
What you really fear ? Lose your job ,your country under attack?I think me too. We all have the problem that our goverment, on each sides, did not represent the interests of their people. Like last time, the U.S. 7th Fleet aircraft carrier George Washington came to China`s yellow sea for operation.
We all fear about it, and the local bbs even came up with over 30 different ways to sink it.
Why? Because of fear.
We fear our motherland is threatened, and our goverment will sell our interest for peace.
Finally, RMB appreciated under that threaten, and as a result China`s inflation rate
rise to a new high after that.
According to history, nearly every war caused by inflation!!!
Personally , i think US will suffer that inflation in coming years.Let the body hit the floor? It`s not a good option to both side.

The explanation given is that it's a plane flying towards you from over the horizon, parallel to the ground. It just looks like it's going up because of perspective. The further end at the "base" has bee blown out wide by the wind creating a false perspective effect so that it looks closer (near the ground), while the thinner part coming from the plane looks further away.
Entirely possible!
Even so, still looks missile like to me. - 1 year ago

What a coincidence we have a cruise ship lossing his engine in the same area, I think the chinese are sending a message to the US , that they have a technology so advance right now that they can come close to shore and the satellites wont see it coming. also i believe it have to do with the meeting they have in Seoul Korea about the economy. China is telling the US we rule you so shut the f@#% up.

Mark701:
That should be a question that should trouble us all.
If the US gave China the tech to sneak up on them like that, then China no longer has any reasons to be friendly to the US, as they can re-create it all they want once they have the knowledge to do so. The US gave away an advantageous position to the Chinese, and for what? A quick buck probably, if we can learn anything from this recession. With behavior like this coming from what could be a potential enemy, people should be damn attentive as to what technology is being given away to the Chinese government, and for what reasons.
And why should China co-operate with the US in the future? In hard politics, the US is losing: the US has a weak dollar due to all the printing, a thinned military presence around the world - not good for conducting either offensive or defensive strategies - a politically divided nation that is increasingly becoming more aggressive towards each other, and a weakened economy that, ironically, increasingly relies on foreign industry nowadays, including China. Also, is the USA's allies, especially Japan, South Korea and Australia, willing to risk neck and limb to save the USA in case they were actually attacked by China?
I'm not saying the US is vulnerable, but people should be concerned with how the US is conducting daily affairs if this sort of thing can happen almost on home soil.

I talked to some pilots yesterday and they said they see this kinda thing all the time and it was likely just a plane. So is it true that there were no flights in the area at that time? Nope. UPS flight 902 & US Airways flight 808. http://blog.bahneman.com/content/it-was-us-airways-flight-808 the guy who wrote that article is an aviation photographer so he probably has more real knowledge of evens like this than anyone else.
Also here is a explanation of the physics behind it and some other photographs of "missiles"

If this is true, it might be more a result of an information leak than any kind of technical advantage.
These are diesel boats with electric motors for subsurface running. That means they have to run on the surface to charge their batteries until they get into the vicinity of a target then dive. Running on the surface they could be easily detected with radar.
The time an electric boat can stay underwater is limited to the amount of their battery storage, which means they couldn't approach the fleet from a long distance underwater, let alone trail them for a lengthy period of time.
It makes more sense to me that the sub knew where the fleet ops were going to take place and got there ahead of the fleet say the night before, dove, sat quietly, and simply waited for the Navy to show up.
The only thing that makes me doubt that this was a Chinese sub is that, if they did this, and they launched a missile if full view of American naval forces, the Navy probably would have sunk it.

Your points are all well taken but the subs that surprised the fleet was a totally different set of subs then the one that was supposed to of fired the missile off Ca. And the navy didn't fire on the subs because they were amazed that they were there in the first place, and knew the subs could have. How did bailey78 put it? "Blown them to hell with out a second thought." Our military is out gunned on many fronts now, the US is history's superpower, not the current or the future, thank you GWB and Barrack Obama for that feat. We need to fight more wars to appease the Military Industrial Complex, it's big money. Our troops are spread so thin across the globe that we couldn't make our way out of a bag if we had to. If we was to fight a REAL enemy with a REAL military we would be crushed in short order, do the research this is all fact. Other countries don't think they are the world police and keep THEIR troops ready for war, something the US is clueless about anymore.
