Texas Gov: We May Need Troops in Mexico

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the United States should consider deploying military forces into Mexico to stem the drug-related violence afflicting the border region.

Perry, the incoming chairman of the Republican Governors Association, told MSNBC on Thursday morning that while Mexico would “obviously” have to approve any American assistance, military might is needed to defeat the drug cartels that have stymied Mexican authorities. And he pegged decreased border violence as a prerequisite for any successful immigration reform push in Washington.

“I think we have to use every aspect of law enforcement that we have, including the military,” Perry said. “Any means that we can [use] to run these people off our border and to save Americans’ lives, we need to be engaged in.”

Perry has been a vocal proponent of deploying more military forces to the U.S.-Mexico border, hand-delivering a request to President Barack Obama in August.

    • With documentation establishing intrusions into our sovereignty by the Mexican military by as much as a few miles (which Mexico denies) and drug and human trafficking cartels by hundreds of miles (a established and documented fact), it begs the questions:

At what point is it finally recognised by our National Security Agency that what is currently going on our National borders is nothing less than a war of unauthorised invasion upon our borders?

At what point do we start honouring and enforcing the rule of law as ratified and established by the authority of our constitution?

At what point do we establish that we have not only the authority, but also the "cajones" to protect our borders from illegal intrusion?

. . . . It sure seems like we have a gutless, no "cajones" lawless govt, doesn't it?

    • Apparently insanity is contagious, because most Republican politicians are delusional..Rick Perry is a certified, delusional, nut-job...I don't know which one of his proposals is the craziest, Texas seceding from the United States, or sending troops to Mexico..

    • Over my dead body! I KNEW he was going to do this! What a slime-ball Perry is! He was obviously waiting until his election was over to make a declaration for troops to take over the boarder! So...this is what it's come to?...Marshal Law? Texans NEED to realize JUST BECAUSE PERRY'S A "REPUBLICAN", IT DOESN'T MEAN HE'S A "TEA-PARTIER"...EVEN IF HE SAYS HE IS! HE'S NOTHING BUT A DEVIANT BILDERBERG NEO-CON!
