Allah vs. God

nmnative:
Allah (Arabic: الله Allāh, IPA: [ʔalˤːɑːh]) is the standard Arabic word for God. The term is best known in the West for its use by Muslims as a reference to God in the context of Islam. It is also used by Arabic speakers of all Abrahamic faiths, including Mizrahi Jews, Bahá'ís, Eastern Orthodox Christians and Eastern Catholic Christians, in reference to God.
ArabicThe Arabic components that build-up the word "Allah"
The term Allāh is derived from a contraction of the Arabic definite article al- "the" and ʼilāh "deity, god" to al-lāh meaning "the [sole] deity, God" (ho theos monos). Cognates of the name "Allāh" exist in other Semitic languages, including Hebrew and Aramaic. Biblical Hebrew mostly uses the plural form (but functional singular) Elohim. The corresponding Aramaic form is ʼĔlāhā אֱלָהָא in Biblical Aramaic and ʼAlâhâ ܐܰܠܳܗܳܐ in Syriac.
The name was previously used by pagan Meccans as a reference to the creator deity, possibly the supreme deity in pre-Islamic Arabia. The concepts associated with the term Allah (as a deity) differ among religious traditions. In pre-Islamic Arabia amongst pagan Arabs, Allah was not considered the sole divinity, having associates and companions, sons and daughters–a concept which Islam thoroughly and resolutely did away with. In Islam, the name Allah is the supreme and all-comprehensive divine name. All other divine names are believed to refer back to Allah. Allah is unique, the only Deity, creator of the universe and omnipotent. Arab Christians today use terms such as Allāh al-ʼAb ( الله الأب, "God the Father") to distinguish their usage from Muslim usage. There are both similarities and differences between the concept of God as portrayed in the Qur'an and the Hebrew Bible. It has also been applied to certain living human beings as personifications of the term and concept.

the words “Good Christian” are ALSO an oxymoronic contradiction in terms
basically put, there quite simply IS nothing “Good” about being a “Christian”Christians are the most unstable and violence-prone people in the history of the human race
Christians have killed more people in more ways and at more times and places than any other single group of people in the history of the human race
Christians have been the instigators of every single one of the wars and genocidal atrocities in the recorded history of the known world in the last 2,000 years
just in the last two millennia, christians have killed more people, and Christianity has caused more and bloodier wars in the history of our societyAmericans, CHRISTIAN Americans at that to boot no less i might add, have committed some of the most vile and dastardly acts in the recorded recent history of humanity some of them VERY recently

MLK was a good person IN SPITE of his allegedly claimed christianity
not because of itthe only reason no one knows of any evidence that religion makes a person more prone to acts of violence
is because no scientific studies have ever been allowed to be done to study the problem
the leadership of the christian church would never allow any science to be publicized that might turn people away from their evangelization indoctrinationislam has only existed since the late-first millennium CE
muslims, with the exception of the ottoman turks in istanbul, have never had an organized empire or centralized power structure,
and for most of their history, islamic institutions, such as the world's first-ever Univiersity in known recorded history at Baghdad, to which the Arabs managed to smuggle numerous pricelessly valuable ancient historical documents from the Great Library of Alexandria before it got incinerated when the Egyptian capitol was burned to the Ground by the Christian Byzantine Emperor Theodosius in the late fourth century CE
between the third century and twelfth century CE, the University of Baghdad made numerous historical advances in the fields of Mathematics (including inventing, for the first time in known recorded history, the number "0", as well as the maths of geometry and calculus), Astronomy (including discovering the planets of Jupiter, Saturn , Uranus and Neptune; as well as the movement of the star constellation of the zodiac around Polaris, the North Star, that proved that the Earth rotated and orbited around the sun), and anatomy and physiology
until the Christians from Europe, by papal mandate, invaded in the thirteenth century CE, plundering and pillaging the Byzantine capitol city of Constantinople, where most of the collection from the Library of Alexandria had been moved to, burning the library to the groundwhen the Roman Empire outlawed Christianity in the first century CE, the christians started a holy war against the Roman Empire that, by the third and fourth centuries, had exploded into open rebellion and civil war that split the Empire in half down the middle between East and West, with the Eastern Empire, the Byzantines, converting their official religion to Christianity, with Emperor Constantine's deathbed conversion
"Research" was done at numerous christian institution throughout the 48 United States of America in the latter half of the 19th century, on an ideology invented by the christian religious-political fundamentalist authorities in the leadership of the southern Confederate Rebel States, called "Eugenics", the concept that people of White Anglo-European Caucasian racial ethnicity and Roman-Catholic Orthodox Judeo-Christian ideology belief system were inherently physiologically, anatomically, or intellectually superior to any and all people of and and all other race, ethnicity, nationality, or religion
Adolph Hitler's Catholicism included, as modern-day christianity continues to do to this day, a ideological mandate to convert all others in the world to the religion of christianity
so naturally, young adolf immediately latched onto the American idea of "Eugenics" to advance forward his conceptualization that those individuals of the Jewish Religion, Semitic Race, Judaic Ethnicity, Hebrew Language, and Israeli nationality were inherently an inferior group and were solely and singularly responsible and to blame for all of the western european world's societal, economic, political, and sociological problems of the Great Depressionany sociologist would tell you that a key component in any conflict between Russia and china is the clash between Chinese Taoist Buddhism and Russian Greek Eastern Orthodox Christianity
the little help that has come from the West to the victims of the genocides in Rwanda and Darfur has come in the form of Christian Fundamentalist Evangelical missionaries handing out king james bibles, to people who have never learned how to read or write, very much less speak, the english language; along with the ten-pound bags of wheat, rice, and corn hauled in their pickup truck beds
and the governments of the western nations, ruled and controlled by christian leaders, use this "faith-based aide" as a way not to commit any sufficiently significantly substantial quantity of financial or material resources to any of the less-fortunate parts of the world
in the legal profession, that knowing complicity is known as "accessory to homicide",
it is also called "negligent homicide"
and guess who is the guilty party, on both sideschristianity has been the instigator and the cause of every single war, massacre, slaughter and genocide in the history of the western world for the past two millennia (or TWENTY centuries)
Just to name a very few of the many: The Crusades, the Reformation Genocides, the Inquisition, the systematic extermination the Native American Civilizations, the holocaust, the massacres in India and Africa, and, let us not forget, the Bush-Cheney Regime’s “Crusade” terrorist invasion and occupation against the Muslim Arabic world in the Middle East and West Asia
more people have died, killed and been killed in the name of Joshua Ben Josef of Nazareth, the ORIGINAL Liberal Hippie Pacifist, than any other mythology in the history of human thought and that’s just in last two millenia - 1 year ago

While part of what you say is true, the central point of Ian's "rant" is still valid: These heinous acts are more likely to have taken place because of religion rather than in spite of it simply because the central point of nearly every religion is the fact that you're supposed to take it on faith, without evidence to support it and often in spite of the evidence against it. Blind faith is made the highest virtue and anyone who dose not share that faith is less than those who do share it clearing the conscience of any person of faith who wishes to cause those without harm. In fact, the religious person would claim they are doing the world a favor by eliminating these "unenlightened non-believers".
That being said, as far as I can tell Jesus was an alright guy though it doesn't negate all the evil done in his name. I'm guessing if he were here to see what his teachings have caused, he'd urge people to forget his exsistence. - 1 year ago

i have never heard of ANYONE who called themselves a so-called quote-en-quote "Christian" that in any way paid any attention to anything Jeshua Ben Josef ever said or did
"Christianity" has absolutely positively NOTHING at all whatsoever to do with the actual real Jeshua Ben Josef, the first-century CE Jewish Hebrew Rabbi and Excorcist
the violence of the christian church was with the full-throated endorsement of the autocratic authoritarian bureaucracy oligarchy power structure known as "Catholicism"
the equal-civil-rights proposition that Martin Luther KIng Kr. devoted his life to promoting quite literally could not possibly have been further from the dogmatic doctrine that the Christian Church had wielded in order to rule over all of the western European world for very nearly two millennia
(the british-american practice of kidnapping, abducting, selling, enslaving, and torturing individual people of whole societies from different parts of the world based purely and exclusively on the basis of their different color of skin was wholly endorsed and advocated for by the Roman Catholic Authority for several centuries, based upon the Bible's clear and evident full-throated support of slavery)
the idea that african and european peoples could ever be considered as EQUALS flew fairly directly in the face of numerous centuries of dogmatic indoctrination by the Christian oligarchy
no one in history has been more alike to the real Jeshua Ben Josef of Nazareth than Martin Luther King, John Lennon and MK Gandhi, and it is no coincidence that only on of those ever allegedly claimed to have been a "christian"
(i would venture to guess that MLK jr. claimed his alleged christianity under the mistaken and fallacious assumption belief that christianity had something to do with the historical Jeshua Ben Josef, a naive and idealistic delusion that probably somehow persisted in some way in the corner of his mind until the moment of his assassination)under the Roman Catholic iron-fisted rule of the Middle Ages in Europe, someone like Martin Luther King Junior, like his namesake Martin Luther the Protestant, would have ben deemed and branded a "heretic" and probably hanged and/or beheaded before being burned at the stake in a public town square for entertainment
it is true that, during his lifetime, Mohammed commanded that all other non-believers be massacred and slaughtered en-masse
but the bible itself is absolutely chocked-full and replete with countless numerous accounts of mass-genocide, and of the extermination of entire civilizations by their one "true" god, at the request and behest of "prophets" who scribbled those pages by the light of burning animal fat in their cave dwellings
and, admittedly ALL accounts in the bible are fanciful and fantastical allegorical fables, works of fiction and fantasybut the actual words of the bible have not been what has driven the Christian church to slaughter and genocide for twenty centuries, but rather how the oligarchy bureaucracy leadership of Catholicism interprets the intent of those passages to mean
the same is true is true of the saudi Prince Al Whaleed, co-owner of the Faux "News" channel network, as is true of the "reverend" pat robertson, who calls for the eradication of whichever nationality is the "enemy" on a given day
the same is true of Saudi oil billionaire Osama Bin Laden, who calls for a holy war against the Western European World as was true of former unelected President of America George Walker Bush, who started what he called a "Crusade" (literally meaning "War for Christianity") against the Arabic-Speaking Muslim world with a carpet-bombing of the country of Afghanistan, and an armed military invasion of the sovereign nation of Iraq

Ghandhi was a nasty old man and champion of hypocrites. He prevented the Untouchables from having their own party in Congress. He abused his wife by sleeping regularly with two luscious young women to test his celibacy. When he travelled he used a whole train carriage with his huge entourage. Nothing humble about that. He advised the whole Indian population to lie down and let the Japanese fascists murder them all if they invaded. The guy was a total scumbag. He told the Jews not to resist the Nazis and wrote to Hitler, calling him 'my friend'. He also denied the Jews their right to live in their homeland, saying it belonged to the Arabs. So he wasn't just a vicious bigot but also historically ignorant.

I truly doubt if this can be blamed on the Bible or Religious extremism, although the way many so called "religious" people treat homosexuals, etc makes you wonder how much it may influence one's behavior. All actors christians or not christians are on medication, these people the only way they can handle stress is with drugs. I bet a dollar, he was taken some crazy comercial pill from the tv ads that we see every single day on TV. look what happened to the australian actor , the guy who did the jocker ..i dont remember his name right now. All of them end up killing themselves or the people around.

Is that really religious extremism or is the guy just a crazy fucking fruitcake?
I know the two frequently go hand in hand but they're not necessarily the same thing are they?-A good fictional example would be Samuel L Jackson's key scene in Pulp Fiction where he screams bible phrases at a couple of dudes before shooting them to death, and later admits he only does that to freak people out. Maybe this nut was just emulating Jackson?
I really think it's way too soon to draw direct conclusions. - 1 year ago

MrMxyzptlk:
Religion is a touchy subject. If your religion was based around "the sky is blue.", and you believed it religiously, and knew it plain as day, you would defend that idea with your life.
Every Sunday you're taught to believe that the sky is blue. You get involved more into the community, and you like the feeling it gives you, you feel loved, and important. Now, you're friends at work/school, out side of work, they all think the Sky is clear.
But you tell them about the ways that the sky is blue, with all of it's different shades.
They don't believe you. In fact, they try to prove to you that the sky, is actually clear, and that it's a trick of Earth's atmosphere which makes it appear blue during the day.To you, no matter what they say, the sky will always be blue.
That is religion. Impervious to rational. If it's a core belief, it may as well be hard-wired into your brain as a physical piece of your brain.
It's the thing which makes religion so dangerous. It places emotions above rational, and common sense.

Extreme example befitting of an extreme religious point of view. Sounds like the colonial period where indigenous people and Africans were ordered to repent or die. Me thinks not much has changed in some parts of the world in the past 500 to thousands of years.

Jubal, absolutely nothing in that article indicates that he did this because she wouldn't follow his brand of Christianity or that he is a fundamentalist or extremist Christian. I have read several articles about this tragedy, and it has all the hallmarks of his having had a sudden onset of acute and severe paranoid schizophrenia. Religion played a part in it, sure, but it isn't the cause.

What is the motivation behind the murder of gays in Islamic countries? What is the motivation for killing and disfiguring women in Islamic countries?
My point is that extremist religious points of view allow you to justify all sorts of horrors in the name of your god.

Agreed. Even if he is crazy, he still used religion to justify his actions. It's pretty obvious he was on a religious craze, otherwise he wouldn't have been screaming "repent." So base argument: religion definitely didn't help this young man with his mental snap, and seems to have made it worse.
