Ecstasy: The Drug Of A Generation
Some call it the " Rave Drug". Others call it " Rollers". It's ecstasy; fast, powerful and dangerous. As widely used as cocaine or meth, ecstasy has all of the damaging effects, with almost half of the publicity. With a 71% increase since 1999, it is most popular among young adults ages 16- 28. Available anywhere, ecstasy is most common at Raves, techno dances which celebrate the New York "Club Kids" era. In areas such as North County San Diego, the damaging effects of the drug are either bought into silence by wealthy parents of users, or else eclipsed by the perceived perfection of suburban America. Ecstasy has transformed a generation into pill popping partiers with no regard for social issues, and an eye for illegal activites. Made worst by wealthy addicts power over the law, the effects and outcomes of this drug will only grow as little is done about it, and law enforcement is purchased into remission.
