UK: Teenage girl arrested for burning Qur'an

The Qur'an should not be burned. It should be read. But this is a question of whether Britain will preserve the principle of the freedom of expression, or implement Sharia norms regarding reverence for the holy book of Islam. This is an example of the latter. "Girl, 15, arrested over 'Facebook Koran burning video,'" from the BBC, November 25:

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran.

The 15-year-old, who lives in the West Midlands, allegedly posted the video, filmed two weeks ago on her school premises, on Facebook.

The video was reported to the school and subsequently removed, police said.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats. Both have been released on police bail.

It is thought the girl, who lives in the Sandwell Council area, was allegedly filmed setting the booklet alight while other pupils watched.

Two Facebook profiles have also been removed from the site, police added.

It is understood that the group who published that version of the Koran have since been to the school to talk to pupils....

Well, that's a relief.

    • for all the libtards who want to be like europe, there is no constitution in Britain and there is no equivalent of the first amendment, and they don't understand the concept of "unailienable rights" being endowed "by our Creator".

What the state giveth, the state taketh away.

coming soon to every "progressive" nation on earth. You are perfectly free to express opinions approved in advance by Big Brother

so burning paper is now punishable? these are 14 and 15 year old kids, as opposed to adult muslims who try to carry out terrorist attacks, call for the murder of infidels, etc... obviously they are generalizing islam, but who cares? why is this a police matter? what happens if someone chooses to burn a government issued pamphlet that mandates one turns in all immigrants to the authorities/? Law is getting too involved in private beliefs.

if the kids burned the bible, koran, torah together, as a statement against accepting all historical dogma, would that be fine?

Religion is social control. destroy control.

    • The world is rolling over for the Muslims. They can kill Christians, because they are in the wrong religion, but you'd better not burn a book, or you will go to jail. Religious hatred? Isn't that what the Muslims do? If you aren't Muslim, they hate you.

What?!? This is such bs. WHO is supposed to be ditching Britain's principle of the freedom of expression and implementing Sharia Law instead? Muslims?

Muslims aren't implementing Sharia law at this school or in Great Britain, it's the friggin school and the government itself that are implementing their own whacked policy.

Is it a Muslim school? Was the teacher who reported the incident to the police a Muslim? Was the arresting officer a Muslim? Did a Muslim write the law that allowed a fifteen year old to be arrested for burning a book?

    • The Islamification of Europe is well underway and it will be a Muslim republic in 20 years at the most! No one is allowed to protest this! Free speech is a thing of the past In the EU! I applaud her action she should get a medal not criminal charges! She stood up for her culture and freedom, in opposition to Islamification!

    • ya kinda gotta pick.
are they all jihadis, bent on terrorising us into sharia, or are they using our legal systems?

ya cant run both libels at the same time, as each one requires the other to be invalid.
why terrorize if the legal system is a respected authority.
why bother with laws, when we can just use fear.

What are you talking about? You can burn the Quran anywhere you want in America. You might get a citation in counties with burn bans though, but that has nothing to do with the fact that it's a Quran. It could be fireworks and it would be the same standard burn ban law in which you'd get a slap on the wrist. Unlike the United Kingdom which has no First Amendment which allows any freedom of expression that doesn't cause direct harm to someone.

It's kinda the whole reason we broke away from the United Kingdom and became a country actually...

And it's America, not just Utah, that has an anti-polygamy law. Marriage in this country has NOTHING to do with religion it's ALL about legal taxes/paperwork stuff. Anyone who would be legally married to more than one woman (or man) would get the tax benefits of it. So it's a tax thing, again, nothing to do with religion.

To legally be considered married in this country you don't have to get married in a church, all that matters is paperwork for taxes. Period. Maybe the people getting married are concerned about the religious aspect but the government cares NOTHING about that, all it cares about is how you fill out your taxes.
