“Something like 20 percent [of those using Adderall] will use it to write a paper or take an exam,” said Diane Snow, clinical professor and director of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners program.
The May suicide of 21-year-old Vanderbilt University student Kyle Craig, along with at least 25 other deaths, is linked to Adderall and other medications used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or ADHD.
“Shorter acting prescriptions are more popular with college students, and they’re less expensive. But they’re also more dangerous,” Snow said. “People will crush them up and snort them. They get a euphoric high from getting a four, six, eight hour dose all at once.”
Some effects are sudden death, heart attack, blistering or peeling of the skin and seizures.
“It can cause abdominal pain, rage reactions, paranoia — I mean people actually experience hallucinations,” Snow said. “These are serious drugs. You don’t mess around with them, and you worry about someone who does.”

Ok lets get this straight! Adderall is not an antidepressant, it is a stimulant! I am an adderall user but I believe that doctors are responsible for its abust. I do not believe it should be taken everyday for any reason reguardless of what a doctor tells you. If you take responsible quantities orally then it is a great thing. I do not believe a government can possibly protect us from ourselves. if it wasnt adderall it would be something else the same kids would be abusing but we cant deprive people of the freedom of use because some people are fools. Case in point alcohol.

To your point of moderation, relates to “use” versus “abuse” - This isn’t really applicable to this topic. Paralleling this point would be like eating too much (abuse) versus eating what your body needs (use).
We're not talking about a diabetic who routinely gorges himself with sugar (donuts) to then inject himself with insulin. Clinically, insulin has a specific "Use". This type of use is construed as “Abuse” of medication – right? - Inhalants... Albuterol is an extremely effective bronchial dilator. Albuterol though can be also be “Abused” to invoke a drug high.
To your point, in the confines of students’ prejudicial use of meds, the concept of “abuse” and “use” more closely reflects RAPE. Do you feel it has its use in moderation? ..or do you feel rape can be abused?
If a foreign aggressive country attempted to drug our nation’s children with cocaine, PCP, heroin or some similar mood stabilizing/altering drug, would we as American’s let this happen? It’s a silly question - of course we wouldn’t!
Why do we tolerate it from our own then?

what are you talking about? how is taking a pill anything like rape? no one is "drugging" our children, our children are "drugging" themselves most likely because they enjoy it. But if someone crushes a bunch of pills up to snort them, its a bit different then taking them as they were meant to be. In my experience, a line of coke does the same thing though, so i would suggest that instead.
let your kids make their own educated decisions.

Ensuring we're talking about anti-depressants (Adderall or any other a-typical Psychiatric drug) - each year, 68,000+ people die due to "they didn't know the gun (psych drug) was loaded".
