Fracking Fluid Dumping In PA - Video

toyotabedzrock
Caught this guy dumping Frac Fluid on Rt 19 approximately 4 miles north of Washington, PA. He was parked and out of the truck with water running when I drove by. I had my video camera because I was on my way to my son's hockey game at Bethel Park. When he saw me stop and search for my camera, he shut the water off, got in his truck and drove away. This was Sunday morning around 9:39 am on the 5th of December 2010. I called the PA DEP and registered a complaint.

    • Good for you!!! Next time you should call 911!!! I look at it this way if it wasn't frac fluid this guy wouldn't have left in such a hurry and would have maybe spoke to you instead of running away in his truck like a little scared man!!! Either way he was dumping something he wasn't supposed too!!!

    • you should be held accountable for spreading rumors / lies about what is going on here. you assumed something and now with all the hits and news media attention, you have caused a lie to "get legs".

be a stand up guy here and come back on and admit you don't know what you are talking about or better yet, delete this lie of a video.

this is a city water withdrawal hydrant that has been in existence for over 25 years and operated by a longtime company from Washington county.

It seems to me that toyotabedzrock did exactly the right thing. He saw a possible crime being committed, he got what evidence he could, and he reported it to the authorities.

It is up to DEQ to investigate it, and if necessary take it up to the courts.

It is up to the courts to look at the evidence and determine if a crime was being committed.

what right thing did he do here? He taped a man working, seems nothing illegal with that. whats next he video tapes you washing one of your wet dogs outside and reports it to the humane society as abuse. I am sure you would be singing a different tune then! point being the man who taped this was wrong and something should be done to people who report false crimes.

    • if you think this is Frac water then you are sadly wrong, and probably should have your video camera taken away from you. Here is some advice do not film things you are unsure of, if you still have that bottle of muddy water I will take it and clean off my boots with it or hell i will even bathe in it to show how wrong you are. it is a shame that people like this lewis guy are able to make such false videos. The proof is the pudding, DEP went out to investigate and wow what a waste of tax payer money on some m*r*n

    • Good for you TBR!!!

No license plates I could see----however, an excellent shot of

      KM Enterprises, truck # 668

      US DOT #1234235

It would have been wonderful if you could have grabbed a couple of samples of the water that he dumped before it disappeared.

I would have also called the Highway Patrol and reported it. Hopefully, they might have been able to catch up with him and arrested him before he had a chance to go somewhere else and dump the rest----and then deny everything. If he is illegally dumping loads, he is probably also falsifying his paperwork.

    • If people are stupid enough to believe this is a "good" thing for everyone... let them be the first ones to suffer!! They are not going to listen to reason, until they are sick and dying!!

    • This video was filmed about 10 miles away from my land in Prosperity, PA, where I grew up. Most of my neighbors think fracking is a great patriotic thing to do and some are becoming millionaires overnight. My own brother has sold out to the frackin' frackers!
It is horribly depressing that so many people are eager to trade clean watertables for cheap gas that will be gone in a few years.
Stupid rednecks are taking over our planet!

Fracking is the process where oil companies drill down about a mile and pump in huge amounts of water, sand and chemicals to extract gas and oil. "The chemicals, at least one of which, ethylbenzene, may cause cancer, are among dozens used to hydraulically fracture shale deposits to unlock natural gas trapped thousands of feet underground. The chemicals are also used in an array of products ranging from paint thinner to gasoline." (AP 9/17/10)

"Environmental engineer Daniel Farnham said Thursday [9/16/10] that his tests, which were verified by three laboratories, found industrial solvents such as tolene and ethylbenzene in 'virtually every sample' taken from water wells in Dimock Township, Susquehanna County" in southeastern Pennsylvania.
