Bill Maher calls Obama Wimpy and Wussy!

congoboy
Bill Maher expressed disappointment and frustration with President Obama on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS" on Sunday. The president, he said, has been too timid in pursuing the Democratic agenda.

"I thought, when we elected the first black president, as a comedian, I thought two years in, I'd be making jokes about what a gangsta he was, you know?" Maher said. Instead, Maher said we've got "President Wayne Brady."

"For him to be talking about compromising with the Republicans on the Bush tax cuts, where -- where are they going to draw a line in the sand? When are they going to remember who they are?"

"I'm so disappointed.," Maher said. "And I still like him and still think there's hope he could get it yet, but I'm so disappointed that he just seems to be another in a long line of Democrats that come across as wimpy and wussy ... and of not standing up for what they believe in enough."

    • Obama is indeed a wimp. Having a pussy Democrat for a president is just about as bad as having a Republican. Either way, the Republicans -- nay, the corporations -- are in charge. Obama is the Republicans' gimp-in-a-box... or prison bitch. Obama is complicit to the point of total humiliation. I have no respect for him any longer.

"us" is all the folks who voted for the messiah. he's only been prez for 2 years but a candidate 2 years before that. thats where the 4 years comes in. those of us savvy enough saw in our crystal balls the potential doom that lay ahead. and here we are!

"us savvy enough" ???? really? so where was that crystal ball of yours when bush and co. decided to take our freedoms and put us into a bullshit war??

where was this crystal ball when the republicans voted against Health care for 9/11 responders???

Well?? where is it? or are you just picking on the small stuff and forgetting that the republicans put us here in the first place.... or did your crystal ball forget to tell you that?

which freedom of yours was taken? and yeah that was a bad vote and i'd like to add that american veterans have been getting the shaft for decades and under both parties! plenty of bullshit to go around, sometimes dems sometimes gop. i'd like to see a bullshit meter on tv when politicians speak. it could be amusing to see the needle red line on a few folks. cmon k, go have a drink on me

lol.. well, my freedoms weren't taken =P... i still have all most of them, but that's not the point here. The point is, both parties and you're correct about that, both parties keep bullshitting us with their politics and no one ever listens.

I thought Obama was going to stand for the people, but more and more, all he's doing is protecting the people that got him there and letting the middle class, upper lower middle class, lower middle class and lower class, FAIL.... why? because he want's everyone (corporations and the repubs) to like him?? FUCK THAT!!

The government is taking daily freedoms away, the right to the TRUTH (Julian Assange),
      - The right to free internet
      - The right to travel without being harassed!!
      - The right to health care without so much BS
and the one that bothers me the most... Accountability...... it's ok for the US to kill, bullshit us and send our hard earn dollars to other countries, but when it comes to the disable, old and needy, we (the republicans) need to watch our budget??? REALLY??

There's a lot that people are losing... but hey, your crystal ball told you this, right?

agreed, we send way too much money overseas when we could benefit more from it here. i am not against a heath care overhaul as are many conservatives. im just not so sure the one passed so quickly without review or oversight was the best way to go. too fuckin much political posturing on both sides. i'd like to see our veterans get a fair shake as well. they seem to always get cast aside. after all they do to protect us, sometimes justified sometimes not. but that isnt really their decision. they join and end up in some shitty place. but none the less they are doing it for mom and country and deserve better from the government when either they come home disabled or when the conflict is over.

    • He's right about Obama, but he should also quit bitching and start his own party along with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert... people that have some power behind what they say and can pull people in.

The Democrats have proved useless time and time again, seriously they're only going to keep disappointing us. Of course the system has to change a bit so they can gain some political power...

Have you noticed how much Obama has aged in the past 2 years?
He looks terrible. Pale and thin.
I personally still love him and understand why he is doing this although I don't agree.
The Change he was talking about was ending the partisan stalemate destroying our country and planet. This takes more than 23 months to accomplish!
His priority in this is ensuring extended unemployment benefits to the millions of real people about to lose their homes thanks to 8 years of Bush. So the republican zillionaires get two more years to rape us blind, deaf and dumb?
Money hasn't really meant anything since Nixon took us off the gold standard in 1973.
We have been living in a faith-based economy ever since.

Precious, if you would like us to stop thinking you are racist, you need to stop using the word "uppity" to describe the President. It is an offensive term that means "Taking liberties or assuming airs beyond one's station; presumptuous". We do not have a caste system here in this country or at least like to give the illusion that we do not so that term does not apply.

He is the exact same president that was elected. What has changed is that the people who voted for him are no longer disillusioned as to what and who he is. They are now seeing what he always has been rather than what they wanted him to be.

mam, i may be a dick face but how does using the word uppity put me in the racist catagory? or are you still holding onto the illusion that anyone who disagrees with a black president is somehow racist? no more racist than those who voted for him solely because he is black.

so bill can get away with calling him wussy and wimpy and i cant call him uppity? so is it only acceptable and does one have to be a leftylib comic to use an expression or share his dissatisfaction or condemnation of the president? and who's to assume its presumptuous? my comments are based on my observations over the last two years, not just words i pick out of the air. sounds like a double standard. kinda typical if you study it closely.

maybe uppity is a racist word in your mind but it isnt a racist word at all...up·pi·ty (p-t)
      adj. Informal
Taking liberties or assuming airs beyond one's station; presumptuous: "was getting a little uppity and needed to be slapped down" (New York Times). where is the word racist in the proper definition? as i said uppity, needs slapped down!

I explained why the term uppity is improper and I make no excuses for Bill Maher. Although I am a big fan of his show, I do find his constant commenting about how the first black President should be more gangsta annoying.

In a previous post, you said you were not racist and I said that some of the things that you write make you appear that way. I am pointing out one of those "sure looks racist" statements. Take it or leave it but next time someone surmises that you are a racist from something that you wrote, you should be able to understand where they got that idea.

never heard uppity in reference to blacks before. sounds like someones got a hang up, theyre only words. but i do agree with the definition in regard to conceited, arrogant and lavish. that was my basic understanding of the word and they all fit obama in my opinion. back in the 60's and 70's there were plenty of comics who tried to get america to understand that words are just that, and used offensive stereotypical words to break down barriers. i bet those were refreshing times compared to the pc world we're forced to adhere to today.

youre right, for this mess he's gotten us into he should be impeached. his reluctant and final agreement with the republicans is the first intelligent move he's made in two years. fortunately his desire to attract the progressive vote in the beginning didnt pan out into any results for that movement, otherwise we'd be in a deeper pile of shit than we currently find ourselves in. peace

Except that his agenda was different depending on who he was trying to get to vote for him at the moment. In Iowa he was all about some ethanol, in Pennsylvania it was clean coal. He's finding out being all things to all people might win you an election, but it's impossible to govern that way.

You are so full of it, it makes me laugh. Bigotry and racism come from ignorance, so does greed. People that lean left are generally for the betterment of all humanity, not just the rich or the white. It stands to reason that these are the more intelligent because they see the big picture. A world where people want or need makes for desperate people. Alleviating desperation in a way that is fair makes for a better world. The republican agenda is to create poverty and therefore desperation. A desperate population is a dangerous one.

Smart people are not racists or bigots because it doesn't make sense and impedes progress.

    • I agree with what Maher is saying to a degree. At the same time I don't think you can place the blame solely on Obama being a "wussy." Everyone, no matter how badass, is a "wussy" to some degree and you can only expect someone as monitored and scrutinized as the president to get called out every once and a while; and even though politics is such a particular aspect of an individuals life I still, to some extent, think this is true.

I would argue that ultimately the president is not all that progressive. He acts and talks like it. In the '08 election with ever progressive issue you were sure to find a positive comment of the issue but when pressed by the media, and especially during the debates it turned out to be hollow rhetoric.

Check out the clip from the vice presidential debate. This part in particular ruined Obama/biden in my eyes.
