    • I don't think it matters too much how we got into this hole anymore.

What we need is a way to get out of this hole.

Fighting among ourselves over what names to call each other is not helping.

      Does anyone have a ladder?

    • Let's see. The government passes the Community Reinvestment Act under Clinton. It's extended under Bush. Lenders are being given incentives and indemnified by governments, both state and local, for up to 107% of the sales price in many instances, no doc and low doc loans sail through the underwriting process at the behest of the government, people who don't have the income but can get the loan are pushed into homes yet it is only the so-called "right wing", the "evil and greedy bankers" and Bush that are to blame. Is this to imply that the white knight Democrats or liberals would have prevented all this? Ask Barney Frank and Chris Dodd about it. In fact, if you believe this I have a dry sub basement in south Florida to sell you. The bridge come free.

    • Re-writing history is wrong. It's their history, deal with it and move along. We can't let them erase their mistakes, by eliminating, or omitting them. We must learn from the mistakes made, so they don't happen again.

If they make mistakes, use bad judgment, hold them accountable, before moving on, or turning the page. We can't afford to turn the page on that part of history. We are still reeling from the mistakes, which were made during the Bush years. How can we erase their mistakes, without correcting the problems, they created? That's an "Assault on Reason". Accountability! Accountability! Accountability!

    • Something George Bush will never show you....cause he could care less about your Freedom and Liberty seeing how he is a big government interventionist!

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOGq_1710U4

Seriously though, how can a person with government programs be considered a right-wing anarchist?!?

Keynesians KNOW that Bush is not an anarchist/libertarian yet continue to perpetuate the lie to enable their statism slavery...

    • Haha, not this "right winger"! I've been showing him as a statist central planning socialist for a long time! Everyone else just BELIEVES that he wants free markets.

How can you have a government program and be for anarchy?!? How anybody can call Bush a free market guy just makes me wonder.... He helped double the size of the Federal government!!!

Bush is an interventionist from economy to bedroom....

Usually it's the other way around... I know tons of bullies who ended up turning into statists, because violence is what they are used to... and libertarians, the ones being bullied, are the ones who try to use reason to get them to stop using violence...which obviously has not been working either...

    • The Fed lowered interest rates to historical lows to encourage borrowing... it worked. GSEs Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac reduced risk and ensured liquidity in the real estate market... it worked. Banking institutions were forced by the fed, HUD, Acorn and other institutions to lower lending standards... they did. Glass steel was modified to encourage the utilization of mortgage derivatives... it worked. The tax code was modified to encourage the investment and trading of real estate... it worked. The market reacted rationally to these and other government incentives put into place over the last couple of decades by both parties. Both parties call this a failure of the market to regulate itself... you have got to be fucking kidding me.

A voice of sanity and truth at last. A lot of people do not see the damage done to the economy by what you mention. It's easier to blame Bush and try to cast him as a "conservative" when he was not. Actually what we need are Constitutionalists, nothing more.
Governments propensity to control the markets with such things as the Community Reinvestment Act have lead to this mess we are in. The market cannot regulate itself, it is not "free". Everything we do is controlled by the government. Both parties are to blame, Clinton, Bush, Obama and before. We are a hodgepoge of lobbying interests, not freedom. Obama needs to go, we need to break the cycle.

I seem to remember Bush always talking about practicing "Conservation" and "Conservative Principles". I believe he also ran as a "conservative" republican. I just think that republicans are so ashamed of him now that they want to distance themselves from him as far as possible. Kind of like what you're doing.

The Community Reinvestment Act, originally set up in the 70's was to keep banks and lending agencies from Red-Lining. Red-Lining is the practice of denying loans, increasing loan interests, and other discriminatory lending practices, which targeted those of a certain race, or in low-income neighborhoods.

This act worked to create equal lending opportunities for all, no matter their race, creed, income level, or neighborhood.
What you are attacking is government regulation that was setup to protect people.

What you are leaving out is that from 2002-2007 changes were made which "relaxed" the regulation of these predatory practices. Relaxing regulation is the same as De-regulation.
Which is something Republicans fight for all of the time, yes?
The deregulation of this Act contributed to the credit and financial issues that we see today.

Now, if only I could remember who was in office around 2002-2007. Hmmmm....who could that be?
      I wonder.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was a Republican by the name of George W. Bush.
Republicans loved him so much, they elected him to 2 terms. You guys should be very proud.

I agree, each move by both parties that wasdone for "altruistic" reasons was for the purpose and benefit of the"working" class to have the "American dream" which served only to exacerbate the ever growing dependence of the lame and lazy of who've come to believe that is the purpose of govt is to take care of them because of these loosely regulated or monitored entitlement programs.

More and more Americans are bartering away their dignity and self determination for the "luxury" of the "comfort" of the nanny state providing for them for what they were not qualified or worthy... believing simply because they exist that they have "rights" to entitlements.
... creating nothing less than a perpetual funding nightmare... borrowing from the future to fund the interest on the debts of the past in order to mortgage the present... absolute total fucking insanity.

It was around the mid 80's too that people had to start taking out loans to get educated . Before '85 i borrowed NOTHING to get my education . Grants were there for low income . Health care started to skyrocket , unchecked . Corporate influence was already being felt .

Ayipis can't explain his view- he doesn't have a view.
He can't even put a sentence together properly.
They are just random words and soundbites tossed together with ellipsis, multiple punctuation marks and LOLs.

It's becoming a more and more common occurrence. I drive down the neighborhood where my parents have lived for years and I'm seeing more and more cars in various driveways than before. Likely doubling occupancy to stay afloat.

Nothing new here. I have seen three or four families of Vietnamese and other Asian families living in the same house hold. They work togeather as a whole to what it takes others a life time to do. I have seen them go from a one house hold family to owning the whole block. They also live on the boat they work. Makes sense to me to do so. They all work for the same goal. that is get ahead in life and not to be a burden on others.
