Watch this amazing interview with Julian Assange on AlJazeera Television. In the four years that Wikileaks has been leaking documents, there hasn't even been a single allegation from any government that anyone has been physically harmed by the release of documents.

Okay now what?
So now we all go back to sleep? Back to business as usual & doing nothing?
Doing nothing is stupid!
Doing something is courageous...
WIKILEAKS IS A WAKE-UP CALL !!!
Wikileaks is a global "Virus Protection Software" that has shown all of us that our systems are infected.... That there is a trojan virus running in the background - doing things against the interests of the People of the Country that the government is mandated to represent.
This is a real wake-up call for people everywhere.... that Corporations have taken over all our government systems... Stealing all our freedoms and making us slaves of their corporate system.
LEARN FROM HISTORY.....
Mussolini quote: " Fascism should be appropriately called Corporatism because of a merger of State & Corporate Power."
That is what is going on here...
This is a wake-up call for everyone... and Wikileaks is the Alarm Bell !!!
Truth is courageous...
Then... be courageous...
Do something courageous today...

Tommic, I see you are very passionate about your beliefs... Please relax... I am also passionate ... So, I can also relate to what you are feeling.
[ First,] I am not a Republican or, a Tea-bagger. [ Second ] I voted for Obama too... I am a democrat and, a very Proud Liberal. I also had very very high hopes as you and as everyone else who did believed strongly in Obama...
After the first year.... I still was making excuses for him and blaming racists, Neocons and Republicans for nothing getting done. But then, when Obama had a clear opportunity the repeal "The Patriot Act".... What Obama did was do the exact opposite, he made "The Patriot Act" even stronger and even put more teeth in it!!! I was Shocked!!! The next very important milestone was ... "Habeas Corpus" and Obama, also DID NOTHING!!!! After that it was one thing after another... Obama promised one little thing like "The food Labeling Act.".. a simple act to indicate GMO's.in all our food. Exactly the same as in Europe... So we all had a choice.... But again... What did we get from President Obama= Nothing!~ ZERO!!! ~ ZIP!!! But even worse... Obama then picks his choice to head the "Department of Food Safety"... And Obama picks... the Attorney for Monsanto. That is enough!!! That is total crap!!!! 180 degree flip!
Tommic, there is only so much that you can blame on Republicans & Tea Baggers.
Tommic, there comes a point where you and everyone has to realize the truth... that we all got sold a bill of goods... Only after you have all the facts...and after you take a really good look... And see all the damaging legislation and policies that were enacted by the criminals Bush and Chaney with their Patriot Act and their Project for a New American Century...their FEMA camps to Home Land Security all directed at Spying on US Citizens..... Tommic... NOTHING HAS CHANGED! It wasn't reversed... it wasn't stopped... or....wasn't even slowed down. All the facts are there for everyone to see.... All of Bush and Chaney's policies were all excelerated and strengthened !!!!
Look I was disappointed too! I am sorry, but, I don't think you have all the facts in front of you Tommic...
I worked both for Bill Clinton and also All Gore for many years as their TV producer... I feel that Obama waisted an historic opportunity to do the right thing... With what I have said above... I believe we are all running out of time here. Today.... without a doubt... our country is much further down the rabbit hole that it ever was before and headed quickly towards total Fascism...
What Wikileaks is showed all of us, is much like Todo in "The Wizard of Oz" pulling back the curtain exposing the fraud and corruption....... If that wasn't enough... What is even worse... is how our Government is responding... By more Fascist Acts and more ugly threats and openly circumventing our laws and legal due process... This is not now a law biding society responds! This is very troubling behavior.
Tommic, From looking at what you write... you are an intelligent and passionate guy.
I believe you are maybe you should think about changing your news sources... ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, ect... They all s topped reporting the news a while ago. I know that for a fact, because they are all my clients. They only report what they want you to hear.
I would like to suggest:
"GritTV" "DemocracyNow" & " THE REAL NEWS NETWORK "
In Closing:
Thank you for taking the time to write me, I am sorry if you feel that I offended you personally, that wasn't ever my intention. I wish that things were not to the point politically where they are today... But, unfortunately they are. Please understand that I also, feel very strongly in my beliefs in Democracy, personally accountability and, in government transparency. I feel very strongly that all of us... need to be courageous enough to take the steps needed get our democracy back from the entities the stole her and to rescue her it from the direction she is is now heading...
I am sorry if in the process, that I offend you or, anyone else along the way...
Be courageous... Act courageous...

the "rape" alligation has to be one of the most confusing alligations i've ever heard of. First she claimed it was consensual, then she claimed the condom broke. Then they retracted the Sex by suprise claim and told him he was free to travel. Then as soon as he did leave the country he had a warrent issued but no charges were brought against him. to repeat, he is not charged with anything but a warrent was still issued for him.

He had consenting sex with two women, who later recanted.
He's being charged with "sex by surprise", which later was retracted.
There is another form of what their charging him for, which falls under the "rape" category, which is basically that he had consentual sex with a woman, and his condom broke.Luckily, in America, that's not rape. It's called, "Oopps".
So by our definition, it's not rape.
I'm sorry if you think that consentual sex is rape. Also, the woman only pressed charges months after the actual event.
Most likely, brought on by the popularity of WikiLeaks. Now, ask yourself, would a real rape victim wait until someone was getting news coverage to claim rape? -Or would she report it to the police immediately?

Well, I'm sorry you felt the need to take the conversation to juvenile levels.
One of the women was unconscious. She did NOT consent to sex while unconscious.
I'm sorry if you think that having sex with an unconscious woman is NOT rape.
I'm sorry if that shoots your plans of buying a bunch of Rohypnol down the crapper.
You say:
"Now, ask yourself, would a real rape victim wait until someone was getting news coverage to claim rape? -Or would she report it to the police immediately?"So, I'll ask myself- self, what do rape victims usually do?
Do YOU know what real rape victims USUALY do?
I do.
They do nothing.
They do NOT report it to the police immediately.
Nothing.
Rape is an underreported crime. Rape victims often do not come forward unless someone encourages them to do so, such as additional victims. And yes, that is often years later. And BTW- if you don't want to have this discussion in a mature fashion, don't bother replying.

You have to sit through a plea for money first.
from the video:
"And so, when we talk about consent and we talk about whether or not she literally said the word "no," we have to talk about the context. He had ripped her necklace. He had held her down. She was afraid. A lot of women have been taught that they can do nothing against someone who wants to rape them, and the best thing to do is to go along so they don’t get further hurt. And a lot of women operate with that fear. Further, if we look at the second case, she was asleep. A woman who is asleep, a person who is unconscious, is unable to consent. They’re also unable to object. So if you initiate sex with a sleeping person, you are sexually assaulting them, and that is perfectly clear."
And there have been plenty of court cases where a rape victim asked a rapist to put on a condom, and he did, and it was still rape. Asking to put on a condom does not mean consent.

And here are some more:
http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,2037078,00.html
"According to the Swedish branch of Interpol, a recent arrest warrant for Assange states that the rape accusation stems from a sexual encounter in which the woman "was asleep and in a helpless state." There is also a sexual-molestation allegation based on claims that in a different incident, "the pair [were] sleeping naked together and the suspect [pushed] his naked erect penis into her body." And prosecutors also want to question Assange in relation to the suspicion that he sexually coerced one of the women by "lying on top of [her], using his weight to prevent her from moving, and forcefully spreading her legs," and that he sexually molested both women by "having sex without the use of a condom, without the woman's knowledge."
... the whole "oops the condom broke" story is simply his justification, yet so many people here believe it hook, line and sinker.
If this were any generic man on the street, no one in this forum would be defending him.

Here is another:
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=131915816
For two weeks after seeing an Assange TV interview, the 27-year-old woman devoured news reports about him. Then one night, she Googled his name and learned he was giving a lecture in Sweden on Aug. 14.
The woman contacted the organizers and offered to do chores if she were allowed to attend. She turned up in a bright pink sweater and sat in the front row — looking out of place amid a sea of journalists in somber suits. The ice was broken when she agreed to buy a cable for Assange's computer.
She was invited to a post-lecture dinner, she said, and seated next to Assange. They flirted, she told police: At one point Assange hand-fed her cheese and bread. The police report says she found it "flattering."
She and Assange went to the movies, where she said they kissed. Two days later she brought him home.
But by then, she told police, "the passion and excitement had disappeared."
On the train ride to her place, she said, Assange logged on to his computer and started reading about himself on Twitter. "He paid more attention to the computer than to her," the report said.
They got to her apartment at midnight — and what happened next "felt very dull and boring," she told police. She later alleged, according to a British lawyer, that Assange pinned her down and refused to wear a condom.
The other woman's tale also emerges as one of casual, uninspired intimacy.
The 31-year-old, a feminist scholar who was working for the organization that hosted Assange's Aug. 14 lecture, let him use her apartment while she was away on a trip. But she returned early, on the eve of his lecture, and the two agreed he could stay.
That night, they went out for dinner, returned to her place for tea, and, she said, became intimate. Later, in the middle of the night, she claimed in the police report, Assange sexually molested her. In a London court Tuesday, a lawyer accused Assange of having unprotected sex with the woman while she was asleep.
Afterward, he stayed in the apartment for nearly a week.
During that time, the first woman tried unsuccessfully to reach Assange and, on Aug. 20, tracked down the apartment where he was staying. The two women got to talking.
After swapping Assange stories, they jointly contacted police — and filed rape complaints.

And another:
http://www.pressherald.com/news/nationworld/assange-jailed-website-releases-more...
Lindfield said one woman accused Assange of pinning her down and refusing to use a condom on the night of Aug. 14 in Stockholm. That woman also accused of Assange of molesting her in a way "designed to violate her sexual integrity" several days later. A second woman accused Assange of having sex with her without a condom while he was a guest at her Stockholm home and she was asleep.
A person who has sex with an unconscious, drunk or sleeping person in Sweden can be convicted of rape and sentenced to two to six years in prison.
Assange's lawyers have claimed the accusations stem from disputes "over consensual but unprotected sex" and say the women made the claims only after finding out that Assange had slept with both.

My statement was fair- I said the word "perhaps". I don't know the details of what went on any more than anyone else here.
What I find disturbing is the hero worship of Assanage, to the point where people are wearing blinders.
Oh, he said it was just that a condom broke, so then that must be it. It's not like he would lie about something like that!
This reminds me of Michael Jackson fans who refused to accept that he was a child molester, or OJ Simpson fans who refused to accept that he killed two people.
Yes, in this instance we don't know if he is guilty or not- but people are giving him a HUGE benefit of the doubt that they would never give him if he was a Joe Shmo down the street; or someone unlikable, like a Republican pundit.
Imagine if these same allegations, word for word, were being made against Glenn Beck. Everyone here, including me, would want his ass roasted on an open fire.
But because it's Assanage, it's just that a condom broke.

Are people still innocent until proven guilty? Because I'm sorry to burst your bubble but rape is one of the most falsely reported crimes that there is with some recent statistics coming in around 50%. Considering the above article cites one of the accusers writing an instructional article entitled ‘7 Steps to Legal Revenge’, explaining how women can use courts to get their own back on unfaithful lovers. We should at least wait until all the evidence is in before stating unequivocally that he raped these women. I don't even like the man but would like to see JUSTICE served and not some rage induced witch hunt followed promptly by a hanging.

BTW if you go back and reread your posts you will quickly see the progression from what Assange reported to what the women reported to asserting unequivocally "Except, perhaps, for the women he raped."
I'm truly sorry for any women who has had to go through rape, and I've known, counseled, and supported some afterwords, but that doesn't excuse overzealous prosecution ignoring any and all evidence on both sides or the basic assumption that all rape accusations are valid. We KNOW people are falsely accused and convicted of rape and the available data seems to suggest it happens much more often than we would like. The data also suggests, no matter how base or pedestrian the reasons may be, that some of the most common reason for false accusation are
providing an alibi
a means of gaining revenge
a platform for seeking attention/sympathyI don't know who is lying or who is guilty but hope that if Assange is guilty he gets much more than 2 years and that if the accusers are lying they get much more than 2 years. Peace.

Now THAT is juvenile. Don't imply that just because someone is skeptical of these women and their stories that they are comparable to a date-raper, because THAT is definitely NOT a fair statement. I understand that you feel people are giving him the benefit of the doubt because of his political and social position, and perhaps they are. But if you want to keep it civil, you should try to set the example.
A rapist generally repeats their behavior over and over, and I'm sorry if I find it odd that NO ONE has ever accused this man of rape before these cables were released and the US started threatening him. Yes, rape victims don't always report what has happened to them, but the circumstances are hazy at best, and the timing is highly suspect. Perhaps he did rape these women, and perhaps he didn't. If Glenn Beck was accused of rape at the exact time he did something to really piss off the government, with NO priors, I would find that odd as well. I guess time will tell...

mjsmith11:
People who have been condemned for conspiracy thinking are now being vindicated as having told the truth about what they knew. We see that the corruption is at the highest levels of government and we also see the corporations are waging war against sovereign states to acquire access to their natural resources. We see that fascism is once again on the rise world wide as corporations are taking over governments and willfully subverting constitutions and international laws. We see that the United Nations in many ways serves the interest of profits over people.
We need to have an organization where whistleblowers can expose corruption.
