THE WAR WE DON'T SEE... a John Pilger Documentary

gerardange
December 27, 2010

A powerful and timely investigation into the media’s role in war, tracing the history of ‘embedded’ and independent reporting from the carnage of World War One to the destruction of Hiroshima, and from the invasion of Vietnam to the current war in Afghanistan and disaster in Iraq. As weapons and propaganda become even more sophisticated, the nature of war is developing into an ‘electronic battlefield’ in which journalists play a key role, and civilians are the victims. But who is the real enemy?
John Pilger says in the film: “We journalists… have to be brave enough to defy those who seek our collusion in selling their latest bloody adventure in someone else’s country… That means always challenging the official story, however patriotic that story may appear, however seductive and insidious it is. For propaganda relies on us in the media to aim its deceptions not at a far away country but at you at home… In this age of endless imperial war, the lives of countless men, women and children depend on the truth or their blood is on us… Those whose job it is to keep the record straight ought to be the voice of people, not power.”

Includes an interview with WikiLeaks founder and editor-in-chief Julian Assange.

    • education of the media, how they can influence, how they do influence should be required a part of education at least in high school. we're surrounded by the media but rarely instruct our kids how to consume it.

    • Good post, bro. And ne plus ultra approipriate too. They can't sell
the War if it's represented as ugly & painful & horrific to others.
Some good soul seeing that might empathize with their plight and
object to War per se. Then they'd go realy broke. They're afraid
someone's going to recognize we're all connected to each other in
this world by an umbilical cord, as the symbol of Pisces indicates,
though we're faced in opposite directions. Whether we want to be
or not is irrelevant to mature humans. We simply are. Don't fight
THEIR war. Fight against Wars per se until they all lay down their
weapons, and surrender to Peace. Peace isn't a season. It's a way
of life. War is an anti Utopia where poverty & misery & carnage abound.
You can't be drafted by Monsanto, Dow, and DuPont. But those are
the Corporate puppetmasters who've corrupted the Gummint into
being their ratchet wench to screw us down to " secure " us. Ha !
Security is insecurity when truth is lies. We're onto the Corporatist
game. When it comes to Corporate Slavery, Homey don't play dat.

    • WE MUST LEARN FROM HISTORY.... NOT TO REPEAT IT !

[ LEARN ]... from those failed corporate dreams of the late fascist, Benito Mussolini who proudly said:
" That Fascism should be appropriately called Corporatism because of a merger of State & Corporate Power."

[ UNDERSTAND ]... that is what is going on here today in our government...

This is a wake-up call for everyone.. and Wikileaks is the Alarm Bell !!!

[ THINK OF ]... Wikileaks is a global "Virus Protection" software that has shown all of us that our Governments are infected... That there is a trojan virus running in the background - doing things against the interests of all the Citizens & People of our Country... The Citizens that our government was "Mandated to Represent".

[ A WAKE-UP CALL ]... that Corporations have taken over all our government systems... That now conspire against US with, Monsanto to hide from all of us the content and ingredients of genetically modified food that we now all are forced to eat.

Corporations like [ MORGAN STANLEY & BANK OF AMERICA ]whose leaders NOW live like royalty on billions of profits from all our dollars and even more Billions from Bailout Bonuses... As they continue to foreclose on ALL our homes forcing [ OUR ] families on to the streets!

[ CORPORATIONS ] whose leaders NOW..... DEMAND our austerity and DEMAND for all of us to live with LESS.... As they live with MORE!

      YES..... THIS IS A WAKE-UP CALL !!!

That..... We are all living in historic times... Times when, [ WE ALL ] need to do historic things.

Yoko Ono said... Even just a small pebble that we drop into the water immediately affects the ocean of the whole planet. I said.... We need bigger pebbles.

Things that started.... with a small pebble dropped into the ocean.

Things that grow... into a Large Tsunami(s)...

Things that start with the truth... and end with Personal Responsibility, Accountability and, Transparency of Government.

Yes... Speaking The Truth is Courageous...

[ IT IS NOW UP TO ALL OF US ] ... To Be Courageous Too.

      [ ACT ]... Courageous...

George Orwell said: In an TV surveilance culture with War without End
programmed into the citizens minds to unify them in hate for the enemy..
Where lies & nationalistic propaganda are so pervasive, the simple act
of telling the Truth will always be seen as a Revolutionary Act, because
Truth is always the 1st casualty of War. How prophetic huh ? Southerners
will be renacting the civil war soon fought in part to resist the tyrany of a
central Government made too powerful by defaulting on it's Constitutional
duties to desist in allowing the creation of a Corporate Central Bank of the
United States to destabilize the citizens & their money supply. The real
money represented by our limnited time & work product was represented
by fiat paper and not recyclable precious metals to give the Banksters
control of the Treasury. What President Andrew Jackson vetoed in the
1830s to protect the lives & fortunes, & hard work of 18 Million Americans
has now been embraced to curse 300 Million Americans to economic collapse.
If Americans knew the extreme pain, suffering, wrongful death inflicted on
others around the world to maintain their dwindling standard of living, they
would revolt in the streets, as Henry Ford himself said.
