"Freeway" Ricky Ross, a former US street legend, who as a drug dealer was once responsible for flooding California's streets with most of its hard drugs, spoke with RT about his activism against drugs. After making up to US$2 million a day and then spending 20 years in prison, Ross started from scratch and is now trying to make a difference by keeping kids from following into his footsteps.
...
From NWA to Jay-Z, all these rappers are Illuminati puppets; Pawns in the Game. Remember "The Message" or the "Self-Destruction" single? Can't have positive music uplifting the black community, so they send in their actors to push drugs, pimpin and the gangster lifestyle through the music to aid in the destruction of the hood. Don't forget the blaxploitation films of the 70s...all Hollywood.

So the glamorization of gangster life, and pushing drugs is the government's doing?
-Yeah. I don't think the president marched up to NWA back in the day and said, "hey, quit telling people how hard it is on the street, you're making poverty look glamorous."The truth is people love a story when someone rises above all odds to claim success.
If this shit didn't exist, there would be nothing for them to over come. -No one would buy their "story". ...so they wouldn't be successful.
There are some rappers who purposefully do stuff to get sent to jail, so that they have some reputation, or so they have something to claim that they need to overcome, in order for people to care about their music.
Ridiculous, yes, but it's part of the human condition. It's not limited to just rap. Rock/Metal/Country all have their own culture and equivalents.
It's art. Unfortunately, life imitates art. - 1 year ago
