Heartless Iranian Government Bans Valentine's Day

In an attempted to banish Western influence from the loved up and lusting minds of Iranian youth, the Islamic republic has banned the celebration of Valentine's Day.

Although the holiday itself has not officially been banned, any promotion of it has been banned.

Iranian state-run media reported that gifts, such as cards and boxes with symbols of hearts or red roses were covered under the ban.

Valentine's Day has become increasingly popular among Iranian youth and is a money-maker for businesses in a country where 70 per cent of people are under 30.

Hardliners have repeatedly warned against the corruptive spread of Western values.

Can't decide if Ahmadinejad has totally lost the plot or if banning V-day might not be such a bad idea after all…

    • It's a bad idea to ban it.
It's been apart of our culture for centuries, and because someone bans it in their OWN country, we're thinking of doing the same? Uhm... no.
It's a day that is, not only abused for commercial reasons, used to help people express their love towards each other. Some people out there really like someone and can't pluck up the courage to ask them out, or tell them their feelings.. a valentines day card or present helps them.
      To ban it, is stupid.
