Andy Coulson today resigned from his job of Communications chief at Downing Street.
He is yet to make a personal statement over his resignation, but over the last few months Coulson drew attention to himself after questions appeared over if he knew about illegal phone hacks at the News of the World when he was editor.
After article in the New York times and the Guardian, more details emerged on the amount of phone hacking at the paper, along with hints of court cases to be made by celebrities on privacy. Coulson denied any knowledge and the PM stated he had full confidence in Coulson.
"A No 10 spokeswoman had warned Mr Coulson would be issuing a "personal statement".
She had told reporters earlier: "The Prime Minister has had full confidence in Mr Coulson and still does."SKy
