Brazil floods: 8,000 free homes for victims

In the recovery process for Brazil after the devastating floods and mudslides, the Brazilian government is promising to bring 8,000 homes to those who lost theirs.

The state is said to be supplying 6,000, while 2,000 have been donated by construction companies.

"Ms Rousseff said her government was also acting to prevent any repeat of the disaster, by mapping out areas that were prone to flooding and landslides and clamping down on unauthorised building in danger zones. "-BBC

With homes, funds are being found to bring back roads and ways the stabilise the hillside to prevent future disasters.
