There’s just too damn many people in the world and most of them are the mean-spirited, hateful sort. Unfortunately, many of them are in office in either Austin or D. C. Others are simply voting for them.To paraphrase John Nance Garner I wouldn’t give you a bucket of snot for the lot of ‘em.

Maybe that’s why the founders didn’t stand-up a democracy. The founders understood that left to the compassionate conservative religiosity majority---things could get really ugly, petty, bigoted, kind of like things are right now in the 82nd Legislature. It’s what Thomas Paine and others referred to as tyranny by majority. In the South it’s never been any different. I think of it as the Egypt of the U.S. South without enough lucid, caring people to get out and protest.
