Rep. Chris Lee (R-N.Y.) announced early Wednesday evening that he will resign his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Buffalo-based station YNN relays a statement from Lee, who has signaled he will vacate his post immediately:

"It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Western New York. I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.
"The challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately."

This is a developing story... More information to come...

    • WHY??? why can't some of our representatives be happy with their spouses, family life, all those things they talk about when they run for office and state that those are the foundation of being good, loyal Americans..... Yes, we all make mistakes, but you're held to higher standards when you represent the people of your state and your nation, for crying out loud, you're a Congressman, ever heard of standards???

It's like this, if you want out of what ever is going on in your personal family situation, get out of public service, then serve yourself, not the other way around, but until then you serve the People, and your family first

      Rant over......
