Progressives United - new grassroots political group

I got home from work a little while ago. Here's the update from a friend of mine via e-mail. She is a retired nurse. "We have busses going Friday, Sat. and Sunday from the Brewery Workers building on Greenfield. Sign up at 8:30 AM upstairs in the nurses office - bus leaves at 9 AM."

Good news! Democrats left Madison, so there's no quorum! The bill, of course, passed out of the Finance Committee and headed to the floor - bad news. So it's now or never.

I just skimmed over to HP for a minute to check things out and it's amazing that the Wisconsin uprising for workers rights protest which has over 12,000 comments isn't the main headline; not saying the uprising in the Mid-East is less important....just sayin'.....

Why don't they do these things when they are in power?

Sent my first donation to him today, I am going to support him to the hilt, Russ Feingold is an honest man, calls it as he see's it. He has great talents, connections, and the ability to really start a new party of smart people, who think outside the box, face reality, don't run away from it. Until he announces a run for the Presidency I'll hold my vote from the republicans anyway.

I joined immediately and even sent a tiny contribution (I'm one of them there starving artists). We NEED a credible PAC with a recognized and respected leader and strong support from us to combat the Repugnicans' creeping fiscal and social Darwinism.

its really a horrible thing they are doing and whats worse is the apathy that has greeted it. the banks/corporations are running the world and we are naught but worker/consumers to them, they allow us the illusion of a vote and a say, throw us bread and circuses, and we are dying to fill their coffers. thats why at opensourceworld.us we are trying to mount a counter attack, to cut through the static and bs of labels and sides and instead embrace all as humankind

Update--the protests continue today and Friday! This isn't stopping anytime soon. The schools are closed in Madison today. The teachers are all protesting! If Walker's plan passes, there will be a gereral strike! The people of WI said so!

It's about time that someone creates a real grassroots political origanization to represent working-class Americans, and all of their issues/grievances! Unlike the Tea Party, Progressive United will challenge America's biggest enemy(corporations)...This is a great day for America!

Now that we see what kind of legislation we can expect from the corporate coup of government, this is great news. I will urge this new grassroots movement to use more than petitions to fight the corporate coup, I don’t think I’ve ever signed more in the past few years that seemed to have little or no effect. I do appreciate all the orgs that disseminate vital information, spread the word, etc., but I’m counting on that WI juice to go viral! We need a spearhead org designed specifically to burst the corporate bubble. We just have to get out in the street and get in the face of greed in great numbers. I signed up and donated in a heartbeat. Let’s build this thing into a juggernaut – let’s show them what “Too Big To Fail” really means – in person!

I still find it hard to believe Wisconsin didn't reelect Feingold. What a tragic loss for all of us. I can only hope his continued good works will be as impactful out of the Senate as they were while he was in. Bless you Russ Feingold. You're a hero!

Feingold is a true patriot, and a hero to the bottom 98%. I am so disappointed he isn't representing us in Congress but am glad to see he is continuing his good works.

No no no we have that already it's called the green party. Making another small party isn't going to hold much water.

If a "backward", less privileged people like the Egyptians, without a precedence for individual liberty and protections, can coerce changes in a begrudging government like Mubarak's, isn't it sinful to accept that we, the people of the United States, with a legacy of individual rights and liberties, can't do the same?!? We need a progressive activist organization within every U.S. community, with the ability to act in sync on cue; Middle Eastern style. If corporate America is imprisoning us with the effects of their control of government, why can't we do what half naked Indians did to Great Britain? If we were to stage work stoppage protests throughout this country, simultaneously and on cue, we could bring corporate America to it's knees! And, this may be our single biggest and best weapon against the war they are waging. Consider, boycotting every socially irresponsible corporation, and staging a national work stoppage culminating with a meet and greet on the capital lawn. I only hope that the streets surrounding the Capital are not so overcrowded, that our legislators can't get in or out! That would be upsetting, wouldn't it? P.S. Progressives United is not a new political agenda, merely a new name. We need to thread the multitude of small individual progressive orgs. into a cooperative. Who else has time to work on this?

I am happy again. It will be almost perfect when Keith's show starts. I was reading Lean61 where she said her husband still has Feingold's sticker on his car. I have a campaign shirt draped over the back of one of my chairs with a big FEINGOLD written across it which will remain there indefinitely. I live in CA, but I made calls to Wisconsin for Russ last November. What was that saying? Fired Up Ready to Go!

This WI resident signed up, of course. I just saw my great, former Senator on Rachel Maddow. He's very proud of the people of WI for standing up to this asshole Walker. It doesn't surprise me at all that Feingold got this organization together already. I miss him dearly as my Senator.

I signed up and donated. The people of Wisconsin were fools not to have re-elected Russ Feingold. He would have fought for them -- his replacement is all about big business. (I know ... you're all shocked to the core.)
