Elora West posts seal slaughtering plea on her blog
In the video the Australian seal fur business man, Hatem Yavuz, laughs and kids about his commercial fur business saying if he wasn't doing it someone else would be. A weak argument for choosing a livelihood, animal rights activists say.
What's your take on this? Should we be complacent in seal slaughter? Is it just a business? Are there moral repercussions attached to it? Given the reality of the brutal way baby seals are caught and slaughtered for their fur - would you take a stand against international fur trade? How do these businesses continue in our "enlightened" culture? Aren't there enough people against it, or are there more people willing to spend 10's of thousands of dollars on furs? Who wears fur? Are they liberal, democrat, concervative, republican, socialist, communist, movie stars, pop stars, rap stars, just who keeps this man in business?
Elora West, an American teenager, wants to put a stop to it. Between high school classes, school work deadlines, and working with Sea Shepherd as a Cove Guardian, she's doing her best to see that sea mammals get a fair shake in our modern world.
We have Gore-Tex - who needs seal fur?
