U.S. continues Bush policy of opposing ICC prosecutions | Salon

It has been widely documented that many of the worst atrocities on behalf of Libyan leader Moammar Gadaffi have been committed by foreign mercenaries from countries such as Algeria, Ethiopia and Tunisia. Despite that, the U.N. Security Council’s sanctions Resolution aimed at Libya, which was just enacted last week, includes a strange clause that specifically forbids international war crimes prosecutions against mercenaries from nations which are not signatories to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which protects many of the mercenaries Gadaffi is using. Section 6 of the Resolution states that the Security Council:

    • God only knows what is involved in that deal. But remember, our founding fathers themselves reconciled to slavery and the oppression of women's rights, in order to get the constitution ratified. So many deals with the devil are struck between those with competing interests in the group.

    • Excellent post! I'm a huge fan of Glenn Greenwald. If Keith were still on MSNBC, he would be talking to John Turley about this shit. This has been my biggest gripe with the Obama administration. He has seen fit to protect the war criminals of the previous administration. Bush/Cheney and Co. belong in prison! From day one Cheney has been undermining Obama's presidency but all Obama has done in return is kiss his ass and kept him out of prosecutorial danger. Just recently, Cheney paid off Nigeria to make his fraud charges go away. But in this country, it's a total free pass! It's like he's still running the show. The Pentagon is still stocked with his guys and the DOJ hasn't even thought of going after him or Bush. This country has forfeited it's right to point the finger at any country for human rights violations and judicial malfeasance. We are no longer a country guided by the rule of law. Habaes Corpus has not been reinstated by Obama, we still do not adhere to the Geneva Conventions and still use rendition. It's the whistleblowers who get punished, not the criminals.

    • I don't see how the ICC could be applied to countries that have not signed the treaty. We need to stop the idea that we are above the law, thats the attitude that allowed what Bush did to go unpunished.

We can thank Nobama for that travesty of Justice. Nobama & his minions
muscled the PM of Spain recenty to forstall the criminal prosecution of
Nobama's NWO installer, Mad King George. One hand washes the other
      with Gumbas like them.

I remember Gitmo. The HD NET channel featured a documentary on it
recently. Innocent people there are held on suspicion indefinitely, thanks
to Hitler Bush, who's done his worst to mandate national RFID chipped
cards to track any Americans movements like an animal being Stalked.
Obama is the puppet of his imperial majesty Mad King George. Each
time I see that bastard smiling for the camera's I'm convinced Nobama
and all his foolish narcissism is a circus clown with nothing more to be
gleeful about than because his bread is buttered at the expense of
85% of Americans. He favored giving Bernanke's Fed even more power
to consolidate their Ponzi Scheme over the USA's economy & monetary
system at a time when about the only thing proping it up is it's fast
fading status as the world's reserve currency. The collapse is coming.

The Chinese know it. Their Government wants their people to own as
much Gold as they can get their hands on. When Nobama signed the
insurance reform act represented as the affordable health care act into
law, one of the provisions they slipped in, which has 0 to do with it,
requires everyone who sells more than 1/2 troy oz of Gold to pay a tax.
Some Precious metals investment authorities claim Nobama wants to
confiscate everyone's Gold here in the USA, in addition to pension $$$.
The U.S. Govt. has been bankrupt for 40 years since domestic oil hit
peak production in 1970, and no Silver was minted into circulation strike
coins anymore. Americans need real leaders in power to institute radical
reforms to many areas of life rife with corruption. If they're not forthcoming,
no future generation will ever be able to recognize the USA in 20 years.

The screw up of Liberals is not getting enough people to vote for John Kerry or Al Gore???
      What???

Look...Bush had to deal with Clinton's screw ups, and every president before him.
Obama has to deal with Bush's screw ups, and all of the presidents before him.
      Get it?
