German authorities probe Frankfurt airport attack on US soldiers

The suspect is a 21-year old Kosovar by the name of Arif Uka, as identified by Kosovo police sources. On Wednesday, he made his way to one of Germany's busiest airports, and opened fire on a US military transport bus, killing two and wounding two airmen. The bus of American soldiers was heading to nearby Ramstein Air Force Base, one of several American bases in Germany used as hubs for operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Witnesses indicated that before opening fire, Uka shouted 'Allahu Akbar' and then in English, 'God is Great'.

This morning's headlines in Kosovo's press expressed shame and consternation in that this latest incident has brought the tiny country back into a negative limelight. Authorities in the country condemned the 'horrible attack against civilized values and against the traditions of the people of Kosovo'.
