Foreclosure-Gate 4.0 - Fraudclosures

For over two years I’ve had a front row seat for the foreclosure crisis, the by-product of our government’s complete mishandling of the worst economic downturn in seventy years.

During that time I’ve been exposed to some pretty horrific things… people living in their cars with a child sleeping in the trunk… the eviction of an 89 year-old couple… I’ve gotten to know what that fear sounds like and feels like… the fear of losing one’s home while the country talks about you as being nothing more than an “irresponsible borrower,” someone who never should have bought your home in the first place, even though you may have lived in it for 30 years.

What I saw this past week, however, was something new for me… I’d heard of things like this happening before, written about them, even. But, I had never seen anything like it, up close and personal.

As a warning… this story is not for the squeamish. If you’re pregnant, or have heart disease, or just want to go on pretending that your country is still a place of which you’re proud… it’s better that you click off now… because this one isn’t going to make you laugh.

    • I'm sorry to hear things are bad in Anaheim, too. Did you read the LATimes article yesterday about how 20% of Californians reported having trouble feeding their families in 2010? California--America's Salad Bowl--is 16th highest, but most of the rest of the states are between 16-18%.

I live in the Central Coast beach area, one that is usually very resilient to economic downturns.

We cannot keep our local food banks stocked with enough food. I see families sleeping in cars when I go out early for a walk on the weekends.

Thanks for sharing the story. Let me know when you film--I'll lend you moral support and buy you lunch.

    • Which is why I've called on government to institute a moratorium on all forclosures until unemployment is brought down to 0, and every single homeowner has been given an opportunity to refinance. If it comes at the expense of the banks, consider it interest on our loans and bailouts.

How about protesting every foreclosure sale to the point that it can not take place? I don't even know how they are executed, but those who do, might consider organizing foreclosure protests. Let's face it. All large banks are parasitic at this point, and they all need eliminating. We should consider protesting them in such mass, that depositors don't want to go near those banks.

Everyone call for a moratorium on foreclosures. The banks created this mess, so they should be the ones to suffer.

    • The sad thing here is, our government isn't doing anything to stop this. We need someone, because Obama is not doing it anything about it... Someone to step in and stop this!

let's hope it happens sooner than later...

you know, i figured at least a good % of people would vote me down just for putting something against our President. But it's not that i'm picking on him, is just the truth... He could have done something and still has that chance, but hasn't.

He was all about "change"... what happen to it?

I read that with the bailout money they could have paid off everyone's mortgages. That would have fixed American family balance sheets and the banks balance sheets as well.

    • For over ten years I've had an up close look at foreclosures, the process of mortgage companies. I have to say this is much more typical than unusual. There are many hardworking people that have been misled, and now being taken advantage of by the mortgage companies. The whole system is corrupt, just out for more money. With the ability to make more money through late fees and then writing off the houses as bad debt, then actually reselling the houses. They make more money when they don’t “actually” value the houses. They don’t have to have a current picture for the appraisals, so after a couple years when the buyers aren’t buying the un-kept house and the ceiling or floor is literally falling in from lack of minimal care and maintenance. The mortgage companies are still showing the houses appraised and overvalued as if they were in top shape. If they would work with the “owners” keeping the house maintained the value would be maintained. They are not doing that, they make more money misrepresenting the houses and selling them off to some unsuspecting sucker and doing it all over again. It’s a downward spiral. The houses are rotting while the mortgage companies misrepresent their value and keep them on their books. The people that supposedly "own" the homes are really just in the way to be discarded when it is more feasible for the mortgage companies. So the families that would have valued and taken care of the homes, the true value of home owners ship, are left homeless. The houses that at one time were of great value are losing physical and market value. Really no one is safe unless you have enough to actually buy your home outright. Don’t let this happen to you or someone you love. We need to keep talking about this because what we truly value our homes and are security are at stake.

    • this is most cruel. gut renching. tens of thousands of people being duped into these gawd-awful mortgages, completely unaware of the slime ball intention of robbing every ounce of pride, dignity and happiness from their lives. i've watched docs on this most horrific crime against the american people. how do people pick up the pieces of their shattered lives and broken spirits to start over in this sickening economy? i don't know if i can go to the link to watch right now. everywhere you turn, the awful wrongs being done. i'll have to watch it a bit later, but i will watch it.
